A Nation Who No Longer Serves God

June 26, 2015…An American Historic and Sad Day…

As I sat in my living room and heard the news of our nation’s Supreme Court’s ruling today regarding same-sex marriage, I began to cry. But, I was not crying because of what our justices had just voted into law or their vote against individual state rights. I was crying because of the tragic loss of our Divine and Spiritual influences of the church, through Jesus Christ, upon our nation and society. Where has our Power and Position gone?

I can only speak of the days and times in which I have lived. I cannot speak of generations and generations ago as I was born in the 20th century; 1956 to be exact. But, let me share what I have witnessed in my fifty-nine years of living in this nation (not necessarily in chronological order).

I have witnessed Viet-Nam; the 60’s Civil Rights Movement; the accomplishments and defeats of NASA including Neil Armstrong’s walk on the moon; the first electric typewriter; the first heart plant surgery; the election of President John F. Kennedy and his assassination three years later; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War and bomb drills; the “I Have a Dream” speech; the senseless assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr, and Bobby Kennedy; the ruling of Roe versus Wade (1973); the spread of AIDS and other STD diseases (80’s), the national enforcement of Separation of Church and State; the taking down of the Ten Commandments in public places; the removal of reading the Bible in public schools and public places; not allowing prayer before athletic events in public schools; taking the Biblical meaning of “Christ” out of Christmas; not being able to wish someone a “Merry Christmas” while working in the retail world; the promotion of alternative life-styles; the promotion by social media, TV, and Hollywood to desensitize all moral and Biblical values; the moral decline from family shows such as “Father Knows Best” and “Andy Griffith” to Bart Simpson and Modern Family; the introduction of the personal computer, the introduction of the World Wide Web (90’s), the attack upon and demise of the traditional family unit; the terrorist attack of 9/11; Desert Storm, the rise of Islam and ISIS around the world; watching world-wide catastrophic storms and weather patterns all over the globe; and local churches and Pastors that were once grounded in the Word of God following the “world” and becoming no more than speakers in country club settings and places for fun and entertainment.

With the continued demise of moral values, weakening church-influences upon our society, and the loss of traditional family values, is it any wonder that today’s ruling favored the Homosexual community? No; of course not.

Let me just say this. To disagree with someone’s choices in life is not an act of hate. I disagree with the “practice” of homosexuality from a Biblical perspective. From the beginning, God ordained the family and the act of procreation through one man and one woman. Yes; God loves the sinner (He died for the whole world), but He hates the sins of the world. (See Genesis 1, John 3:16-17 and Romans 10).

Here is my take on the matter. In the book of II Chronicles 7:14 it reads, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

This is a “conditional” promise from God. So, who is to blame for the downfall of our nation and society? I suppose those who name the name of God but who do not follow his teachings in their daily lives.

Just as I have witnessed many changes in our nation’s history over the past fifty-plus years I have witnessed tremendous changes from the pulpits of our churches to the lives of those who attend church. What has happened? Isn’t our God the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever? Yes; He is…But, we are not.

Do you recall a time in your life when church and church activities set your calendar and schedule for the week, for the month, and for the year? I do. I remember a time when every function in our family’s lives depended upon what was happening at the House of God. My children did not practice or play baseball, softball, or soccer on Sundays. We didn’t shop at the Wal-Mart on Sundays. We didn’t spend summer weekends at the lake or winter weekends at ski resorts and try to fit “church” in when we had nothing else planned. We attended week-long revival meetings where the evangelist preached Heaven sweet and Hell hot. Back then, Holy Ghost conviction was the norm for repenting and calling upon the Lord to save you; not just an emotional response and a simple hand-shake.

Prayer Meetings were actually prayer- meetings where all the people in attendance gathered around the altar to pray in one accord and one mind over the lives of their loved ones and the many burdens they were facing. I recall taking “every” problem we faced to God in those weekly cooperate prayer meetings; as well as personal daily prayers on behalf of my family.
Christians even dressed more modestly back then than they do today. And, they possessed respect for the House of God. You may have worn bathing suits, shorts, and slacks at home and out in the community, but you dressed appropriately for the sacred environment of the church’s sanctuary. Today, people dress as if they are going to a concert or the beach; not to church…Just “whatever” feels good is the fade…And, some churches actually proudly advertise, “We are the church for non-church people.” In other words, come as you are and live as you please…just remember to learn how to smile through every difficulty in life!

Today, we have many good “teaching” preachers and pastors across our nation, but very few “preaching” preachers and pastors. There is a huge difference! Teaching imputes knowledge into our hearts and mind…Then, we choose accordingly to obey or disobey God’s teachings. Preaching, some might even call “Old-Time Preaching,” brings about conviction through the Power of the Holy Spirit to “transform” and “renew” one’s life in Christ. You can teach a person not to drink alcohol or to reframe from other sinful vices all you wish, but without the empowerment of the convicting power of the Holy Spirit he or she cannot overcome the temptation.

For some strange reason, the “church” decided to start following the world’s standards instead of maintaining and following God’s standards. In our modern-day world, the “world” sees no differences between their life-styles and many of those who claim to be followers of Christ. The influential Power of the Holy Spirit has been reduced and removed due to our own lack of commitment and blatant sinful behaviors. The world generally sees Christians as “people-haters” filled with biases and judgmental taunts. They no longer see the church as a living institution born through the Blood of Christ that offers Hope and Salvation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Contemporary and Rock music became the focal point of many churches beginning in the 80’s. Out went the choir lofts and in came the platform stages geared at entertaining the “younger” crowds. Churches brought in worldly sounding instruments played by worldly dressed musicians. The motto became “dress-down” to attract the “younger” world to come “inside” of our churches…But, as we “dressed-down” and learned to jump up and down to the beat of the music, the power of the church through Christ Jesus to “transform” lives became weaker and weaker. We began to have a “form of godliness but denying the Power thereof.

Then, our churches began to teach a “positive attitude Gospel” as opposed to the Good News of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ to save us from our sins and reconcile us back to God. At this point, it was no longer a matter of what anyone did or said, or how they lived, just as long as they approached life and all of its trials with a giant smile on their face. After all, we are a happy, happy bunch…Right?

But, Jesus taught us to “sow the Gospel with our tears.” The Bible says, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” (Psalm 126:5) There’s not too much to be joyful about when your neighbor or loved one is going to Hell. You can smile all you wish, but your tears will bring them to Christ! Then, you shall reap in Joy!

So, week after week for the last three decades or so, crowds of people have assembled themselves in our churches week after week to have a “form of godliness” while denying the Power thereof. What Power? The Power to see Salvation; a transformed life birthed into the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ…Not the self –will power and mindset to smile when all of hell is breaking out around you! In all honesty, if your life is falling apart I suggest you find a closet, close the door, and cry your heart out with hot, burning tears unto a Holy God! Ask God to send a “spirit” of reverence, revelation, repentance, and meekness into your life. Ask God to save you!

So, lastly, here we are….June 26, 2015 and our nation has ruled on behalf of gay and lesbian couples all over our nation to come boldly out of the closet and run to the nearest court-house to obtain a license to legally marry….It doesn’t matter what God and the Bible has to say about it. I suggest that you read from the New Testament Bible in the book of Romans, chapter one, for a complete in-depth teaching on the matter.

Question: Did we, as members of the church, realize how far we were straying away from God? Did we listen to God when we first started compromising with the world? As the old saying goes, “Sin will take your farther than you wanted and keep you there longer than you wanted.” And, that is exactly where we are today…Far, far away from the Holy teachings, practices, and preaching of God.

We have but ONE chance to regain God’s favor and mercy upon our land and that is through actual repentance, prayer, confession, and transformation. Do I mean to throw out all the contemporary songs and just sing, “Amazing Grace?” Do I mean that all the ladies are to start wearing long dresses and hats and sit each week with a frown on your face? No, no, I don’t. But, I do suggest that we go back to “Bethel” and understand what and who the church represents and what its purpose is here on planet Earth; and prayerfully seek HIS FACE for Divine guidance.

The truth is that the church should be a place of separation from the wiles of the world, Satan, and worldly systems. Our distinctness is what should “draw” and “appeal” to a lost and dying world who can’t find the right answers to life’s problems…The true church has the right answer…JESUS CHRIST…. and those professing Jesus should walk and live according to HIS teachings, plan, and purpose.

God wasn’t just filling a page with empty words when He said:
If my people, (Believers in God through Christ) which are called by my name(Christians), shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Amen.

Remember, God Loves You (But hates sin)…John 3:16

The Wind Was Contrary…

The Wind Was Contrary…

…”But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves; for the wind was contrary…(Matthew 14:34)

Have you ever set out to do something that you thought was the right thing to do and in the midst of doing it everything started going wrong? Oh, my friend, you are in a good place to witness a miracle!

In the book of Matthew, chapter fourteen, we read where Jesus instructed his disciples to enter into a ship and, “go before him unto the other side…” The disciples followed our Lord’s instructions and entered into the ship to set sail for “the other side.” While they were sailing alone, Jesus himself went up into a mountain to pray until evening.

It was around the “fourth watch of the night” (3 AM) when the disciples found their ship being tossed about by the waves from the contrary winds. Now, remember these were seasoned fishermen who knew a thing or two about storms…But, no man or woman enjoys being in a storm at 3AM in the middle of a sea! As they were doing their best to steer the ship in the tumultuous tossing winds, they saw a “figure” walking upon the waters. Surely, it was a spirit they thought…Perhaps, they even thought it was a “sign of death.” Their faith was definitely being tested…

But, the Bible teaches us that, “Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” (vs 27)…I don’t know about you, but “cheering” because it was the LORD coming towards me instead of an unknown spirit would not have been a problem! I would have been jumping up and down, clapping, and cheering, “Thank you, thank you Sweet Jesus!”

Many of us know the rest of the story. This is when Peter stepped out of the boat and began to walk upon the waters to meet Jesus…In ways, I think I would have wished to do the same thing! I mean who wouldn’t want to rush out to meet Jesus when your ship is being tossed to and fro!! But, as soon as Peter took his eyes off of Jesus he began to sink into the waters. Ouch! And, thus we have one of the shortest prayers in the Bible, “Lord, save me!” As a result, Jesus sweetly reached out his hand and pulled Peter from the waters as he admonished him, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

Doubt comes into all of our lives at one time or another…But, just as Peter called upon the Lord to save him, we can pray the same simple prayer, “Lord, save me.” Whether it be new adventures or an old adventure with a new twist, we can all become apprehensive in our endeavors. That’s when it’s time to call upon the one whom the winds and seas obey…

Today, you may be facing a situation in your own life where you need Faith, Hope, and Trust…Then, my friend, as I said before, you are in a good place…You are in the ship and Jesus is walking upon the waters heading your way! Remain calm and soon you will hear his voice say unto you, “It is I.” Amen!

Remember, God Loves You!

When the Retaliation is Greater Than the Offense

When the Retaliation is Greater Than the Offense

In this piece, I am not talking about wars of nations or the protection of individual lives from perils of injury or death; I am talking about conflicts that can arise between individuals and/or groups of individuals.

Sadly, I believe that our nation, many of our families, and even some of our churches are suffering from a condition where those who choose to sit in judgment justify and often support the “greater” acts of negative reciprocation more than the original crime of offense(s).

In other words, someone may truly offend another person, but when the offended person or group of persons retaliate at such a level of degree that their retaliation far outweighs the original offense, which party is then at greater fault?

We all know people who can be offended and able to recall the very date and hour of the offense, no matter how small or great, thirty years now the road. They will make comments such as, “Well, I don’t like that person because back in elementary school they stole my eraser and never gave it back or said they were sorry.” Now mind you the person making the statement is now seventy years old!! But, that is exactly how some people wish to live out their lives.

Other people who become offended may seek to bring a “crowd” of people to their rescue or defense causing a small matter to suddenly erupt into a larger one. We all need to monitor our own emotions when we become offended and upset at another human being. Truly, we may have been terribly wronged and injustice was served, but to gather a “crowd” in order to “draw a line-in-the-sand” can become quite harmful; especially to those who do not know both sides of the story. And, one sure element of maturity is to know from the get-go that there are always two sides to any story..And, both sides “perceived truth” to them is truth. This is why it takes “skilled” investigators often great lengths in time to truly find the bottom line of truth in any matter…And, it takes lots of dedicated “prayers” by mature Christians to seek out truth and God’s guidance in most matters regardless if it involves home, work, play, or church.

Today, many people want to accept the “perception of the truth” almost immediately without hearing out both sides. Conflicts, differences of opinions, and major differences between personal ethics and personal mannerisms are not easy to differentiate who’s right from who’s wrong when opposed. Both motives and hidden attitudes must be considered as well as who has the most to lose…But, just deciding that the person who has the most to lose is the one in the wrong is not always the case. Take the incident in the Bible where two women claimed the same baby.

One of two ladies tiny baby died during the night. So the lady whose baby had died got up quietly during the night and “swapped” her dead baby for the other lady’s living baby. The next morning the mother of the living baby immediately recognized that the dead baby lying next to her was not her baby. She looked around and saw her living baby in the arms of the other mother. Naturally, a fight erupted between the two mothers. The two mothers were brought before King Solomon to rule his judgment as to whom the living baby belonged. In his very blessed heart of wisdom Solomon ordered the living baby to be cut into half. Immediately, the real mother screamed out not to cut the baby into half but rather give the whole baby to the other mother…That my friend is a “mother’s love.” King Solomon immediately ordered the baby to be returned to the rightful mother. Sometimes, to avoid further harm and hurt in a matter the person who loves and cares the most will sacrifice their own heart for the sake of the bigger picture! So, the one who has the most to lose may very well back off and become the greater victim. Only God knows the real heart of man. (See I King 3:16-28 for Solomon’s story of the two mothers.)

In today’s modern society patience is not highly valued nor appreciated. A person who wishes to “wait” on a matter and allow God to bring all things to light is looked upon as being weak and not “pro-active” as the secular worlds refers. But, in GOD’s spiritual world patience is still a virtue, Fruit of the Spirit, and very much a valued trait; especially among leaders.

Some time ago, I heard of a group of people who decided to take matters into their own hands regarding an ongoing issue. At the most inappropriate time and place, they brought undue and negative attention to an already complex matter. Let me go on record as saying “nothing” good comes from abruptness of behavior in the wrong place at the wrong time; especially when there is an audience involved. A good rule of thumb to follow is that Satan always loves an unsuspecting audience who does not have all the details or facts. Satan thrives on creating confusion, perception, and division. Oh, my friend, it is so sad to see people bound to their emotional ties so much so that they willfully follow the works of darkness by believing that their harmful outward actions will bring things to light. Think about it…how can confusion bring anything to the True LIGHT?! Jesus does not work in such chaos. His voice brings stillness of heart. A good thing to remember and rule to follow.

It appears to me that our nation, government, organizations, families, and many of our churches are suffering from a lack of godly “wisdom.” We stand in need of modern-day Solomon’s to decipher right from wrong. We need men and women filled with the Holy Spirit to mediate and moderate for the overall good of everyone, all stakeholders; not just a select few or group.

When involved in matters of conflict, we need to be careful and mindful to channel our emotions and perceptions for the greater Truth and Honesty. It’s easy to get caught up in matters and situations that touch our lives and hearts. It takes great courage, patience, understanding, faith, hope, and LOVE to endure some of the challenges placed before us…But, like Solomon we can do it; when we seek the wisdom of God and know the tactics of Satan! As the Bible teaches, “No house can stand or survive when it is divided against itself…” (Matthew 12: 22-28). Jesus comes to heal and to bind. Satan comes to destroy and divide. We must learn and be familiar with God’s ways from those of Satan’s.

Today, let me just say that if you are a part of a movement where the reciprocation or retaliation of a matter is bringing forth greater harm than the offense (or, crime), take heed and warning you are NOT moving in the right direction. Repent. Ask for God’s forgiveness. Seek restitution with those whom you have personally offended and ask God for HIS wisdom to bring ALL things to the real LIGHT in the same matter as JESUS himself would do. No one has ever been more offended and personally attacked than Jesus Christ himself. Yet; from the Cross He cried, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Jesus always seeks to restore, revive, and return peace and positive outcome from negative.

Working through issues, differences of opinions, and offenses is not ever easy. There will always be a degree of pain involved; sometimes both mentally and emotionally for all parties involved…But, there is always a right way and a wrong way to go about resolving matters of conflict and personal ideologies.

In closing, I urge you to not let your retaliation or reactions become greater than the crime or offense(s) bestowed upon you or someone you love. As the Bible teaches, “Take heed lest ye fall.” (I Corinthians 10:12)…In time, and through much prayer, allow the Spirit of God to bring ALL things to HIS LIGHT. Only then will both the offenses and reactions be resolved and justified in the eyes of God. To God be the Glory. Amen.

Lamentations, Mourning, and Woe…

Lamentations, Mourning, and Woe

“And there was written therein, lamentations, and mourning, and woe.” (Ezekiel 2:10)

For the past several weeks, I have been facilitating and teaching a Bible study on the book of Ezekiel. Of all the Bible studies I have attended or those I have taught, this one is proving to be quite challenging, revealing, and concerning. I am discovering more and more each day how deeply I am living within an idolatrous nation and how many man-made “idols” we actually have set up for ourselves.

We are truly a nation facing the Biblical judgment process of Lamentations, Mourning, and Woe. Let me explain:
Lamentations are periods of sadness, unhappiness, depressions, discontentment, hopelessness, feelings of gloominess, and spells of crying. Sound familiar? America’s pharmaceutical industry has made a fortune over the past two to three decades selling every drug and narcotic it can produce to give our society relief from symptoms of clinical depression…One out of every three commercials has something to do with symptoms of depression.

A few decades ago, we weren’t all that familiar with the words such as “depression” and “dysfunction.” Today, the word “dysfunction” describes our American lifestyle better than functional, efficient, manageable, and thriving. Everywhere you look people are trying to find “function” in “dysfunction!” With all the “dysfunction” and “depression” revolving around us, I believe it’s clear to say that we are a nation of people experiencing the judgment of Lamentations! I believe this isn’t something that “we” have created or totally brought upon ourselves, but something that GOD has allowed to come upon us as a result of our turning our backs on Him. Just as in the days of Ezekiel, God is sending us His warnings! And, we are experiencing the first stage in full force, Lamentations.

God is a merciful. He is willing to extend mercy and grace to each individual sinner as well as an entire nation. But, the decision lies within our own hearts, mind, and choices. When we do not “awaken” from our idolatrous ways during God’s time frame of “Lamentations,” he carefully guides His judgments to the next level, “mourning.” I believe our nation is now experiencing a time of “mourning.” Let me explain. Mourning is associated with “loss.” Mourning brings about grief and despair; worries and anxieties; confusion and uncertainties. We are seeing the “love of many wax cold.” Countless numbers of people no longer have natural affections one for another or feelings of sympathy and empathy. We have “lost” human compassion on so many levels. We have “lost” our abilities to govern our lives, families, and society effectively. We have “lost” wisdom in high places and how to apply it. And, we are now losing our constitutional “rights” that were once never challenged. We are now a nation in “mourning.”

That only leaves us with one more phase of judgment, Woes. There is something so very fearful and dreadful about this time period…There is no turning back once it begins. God is just and when he sends catastrophic woes upon our lives and that of our nation he does not stop until HE wills it to be so. Our human cries and tears will not stop God’s “woes.” God gives us plenty of time to “repent” and turn back to Him during the periods of Lamentations and Mourning. But, once His “woes” begin they will continue until His judgment is concluded and final.

The Children of Israel did not heed God’s lamentations and time of mourning; not even after they had been exiled to Babylon. For it was in Babylon, to those already in captivity, that God sent Ezekiel. There they were, the Children of Israel, living in exile camps still refusing to “turn” from their idols and wicked ways. I have to wonder, will America be the same way? Will we, as a nation, hold onto our “idols” of money, self-centeredness, pleasure, prosperity, self-reliant military power, allies, and religious practices instead of looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith? God, have mercy.

As we continue to face greater mourning and future “woes,” will our churches continue to be nothing more than community meeting places to make us look good to ourselves and to others? Will we continue to seek the answers to our many complex problems within society in our government officials and representatives; instead of seeking God’s face? Will we continue telling God that He is not wanted or needed in our public schools, public places, and government? Will we continue to offer our children upon the altars of abortion and human trafficking? Will we continue to sell and use illegal drugs, alcohol, and sex as our nations favorite past time? Will our sports arenas and movie theaters continue to bid for our attentions and allegiance as oppose to church worship, Bible study, and family prayer time? Will our society continue to be forced into accepting sinful practices of homosexuality, fornication, prostitution, and man-made self-righteous wickedness? God forbid.

But, this I can answer…God will not allow any nation who turns its back on Him to prosper in its sins. The handwriting is on the wall…The answer can be found in II Chronicles 7:14, 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

While we are yet in the “mourning” stage, it is my prayer that God’s people will humble themselves, pray, seek God’s face, and turn from our wicked ways…Before the time of “woe” is upon us. As in Ezekiel’s day and time, we, the true Church made up of born-again Christians, are called to be the Watchman sending out God’s warnings unto the people…”Repent, repent, repent!”

In so many ways, we have been warned. Have mercy upon us, O, Lord. Amen.

“In His Time…”

“In His Time…”

Waiting, and being patient while we wait, is not always easy. We live in an instant society. Modern-day technology has served us well, but it has also left us paralyzed with the inability to “wait” without murmuring and complaining. Nevertheless, no matter how “fast” man can accomplish certain tasks, it cannot ever change GOD’s ways, purpose, and plan for mankind…”Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord.” (Exodus 14:13)

Face it, standing still and being patient while God moves on a situation, matter, or person can cause the most patient of saints to cringe just a little. We want God to “hurry up” and make things right or resolve the matter as quickly as possible. We don’t like discomfort, because we are a society of comfort. It may be difficult to understand this concept, but God is more interested in building our Faith than He is in making us feel comfortable!

As hard as we might try to please God with our efforts, the Bible teaches us, “Without faith it is impossible to please God…” (Hebrews 11:6). And, the Bible also teaches us that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1). While we are “waiting” for that particular situation, matter, or person to change, God is changing us! He is strengthening us and conditioning us to place our HOPE and FAITH in GOD who will take care of things in HIS time and in HIS way; not ours. That’s not always an easy lesson or standard to learn and accomplish…We must learn to wait on God and not try to “fix” things ourselves. The Bible is filled with examples of where “man” tried to “fix” things only to make them worse or create even a bigger mess.

Today, you may be “waiting” on God to fix or resolve a matter. If so, I want to encourage you to “Stand still and see the Salvation of the Lord.” Stand steady in your Faith. Stand steady in your prayers. Stand steady in your faithfulness…And, you are never standing taller in the presence of God than when you are bending your knees in prayer! The Psalmist said, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14). Remember, ALL things work together for those who love the Lord who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)…”In His Time…” “In His Time…” Amen…

Remember (while you are waiting) that GOD LOVES YOU!

Kaleidoscope of Emotions…

Kaleidoscope of Emotions…”Our Tears Do Matter.”

If you are like most human beings you are a myriad of daily feelings and emotions. Our natural “self” responds and reacts to the many things and people around us…From the very first moment that we open our eyes to a new morning we are “feeling” something inside…We either awake with feelings of glee and joy to face the new day or we arise with sadness and possible despair depending upon our circumstances.

Our ever-changing feelings do not necessarily associate with our feelings of “Thankfulness” and “Gratitude.” As Believers in Christ Jesus, we possess a Spirit of Thankfulness and Gratitude hopefully continuously; but that doesn’t always mean we “feel” happy inside. As Christians, we can carry our burdens to the Lord and trust that HE is working on our behalf no matter our current situation; this is an example of Biblical Hope and Trust. But, even Christians can get the “blues” and feel sad from time to time.

I believe that what makes things harder on Christians when we are experiencing the “blues” or times of sadness is that “we” tend to beat ourselves up when we are having a bad day on the inside that possibly spills over into a bad week. Almost instantly, we begin to “judge” ourselves for feeling the way we do. Too often, when we do share our sadder “feelings” with those around us they “judge” us harshly as well. Thus, the cycle begins…In addition to feeling sad, we feel guilt. Then, it “feels” as if we need a pic, hoe, and shovel to tunnel ourselves back to the Light!

Thankfully, no other Power Source can manage to rescue us from our feelings of “blue” better than the Words of God found in the Bible and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God doesn’t get upset, offended, or disappointed in us when we feel sad or face trials or circumstances that leave us feeling “blue” on the inside. As a matter of fact, our feelings of “blue” often lead us to our knees where God is waiting on us!

Actually, we should not ignore or try to dismiss our “blue” feelings. I recently read an article that stated people need to learn to “cry” again…We have become a society of “people-picker-uppers” so much so that we have lost the art and cleansing abilities of crying. Our God put so much emphasis on our “tears” that He places each one in a bottle and records them in His book that He is preserving in Heaven for those who Believe…”Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?” (Psalm 56:8 KJV). No wonder Satan and our lost and dying world wants us to feel happy and glee 24/7…Satan would love nothing better than our “bottles” to be empty because he knows that “crying” actually helps to soothe both the mind and body…Psychologists suggest that women and men who “grieve” more openly over the loss of a spouse are more apt to recover sooner and live stronger lives afterwards.

The Children of Israel knew how to “grieve.” They set aside days and weeks for grief…I believe one reason that our society is suffering so much with symptoms of “depression” is because we have simply lost our abilities to take our “tears” to God in honest confession…A pill might make us temporarily “feel” better but it does not resolve whatever it is that is making us feel depressed…Only GOD can make a rainbow out of a storm!

Today, you might be feeling a little down, uncertain, sad, or “blue.” If so, instead of kicking against your feelings why not submit them unto the Lord? Stop what you are doing and find a place to kneel down on your knees. In honest confession unto the Lord tell him exactly how and what you are feeling. Remain there in prayer until your tears begin to flow down your cheeks allowing God’s natural cleansing ability soothe your inward soul…As they say, “There’s nothing like a good cry to make a body feel better.” After you do, you will feel refreshed and renewed. No, your circumstances may not change, but you will. You will sense an inward strength from God to remain steadfast while HE is working on your behalf…We can always carry our Kaleidoscope of Emotions to God!

Remember, God Loves You!

A Measure of Greater Faith

A Measure of Greater Faith…

I believe the time is nearing when all Christians, including those living right here in America, will be challenged worldwide to grow, to develop, and to demonstrate a Greater Faith in Christ Jesus. Are we prepared? From its humble beginnings in a manger in Bethlehem Christianity has been tested and tried down throughout the centuries. Christianity itself was born of martyrdom and many a souls have given their lives for the furtherance of the Gospel; the Good News of Jesus Christ (God Saves).

For the past two hundred plus years, Christians born and living in America have experienced a sanctuary of peace and safety to openly practice our religious beliefs. But, if things continue to progress along the same lines that we are currently watching unfold our peace and safety may soon be in jeopardy. Are we prepared? What will it take for our voices to continue being heard within our own nation’s boundaries proclaiming Jesus Christ as the Messiah; God incarnated in the flesh (John 1:14), Savior of the world? What will it take to proclaim Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, as being greater than any prophet? (John 3:16-17). Are we prepared?

So far in America, our faith in Jesus Christ has not been challenged, tested, and threatened with imprisonment, open persecution, or possible death. Yes, as individuals we may have suffered loss of friendships, relationships, jobs, or other opportunities because of our personal Faith and stand on Christian principles, but as a nation we have been blessed to openly declare our religious beliefs without fear. But, that may not always be the case. Are we prepared?

I believe now is the time to start praying asking God to grant us, as a once thriving Protestant nation, a “measure of Greater Faith” that we may be able to withstand and resist the persecutions that may very well be heading our way in the very near future. I believe now is the time to openly discuss these future possibilities with our children and grandchildren. I believe we can no longer keep our heads buried in the sand as the winds of political opposition howl around us. It is time for a Greater Faith to emerge within our hearts and lives; a time to grow, to develop, and to demonstrate a “Greater Faith” in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let us not forget the faithful words of the Great Apostle Paul:
“According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:20-21 KJV)

May we, too, rise to the “Measure of Greater Faith.”

Remember, God Loves You!
