When God Seemingly Doesn’t Answer…

When God Seemingly Doesn’t Answer…Or, He answers in a Different Way\

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways” Isaiah 55:8

If you truly have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and have served Him for any reasonable amount of time you have to admit that there have been times when you have had to deal with feelings of unwanted “frustrations” because of ongoing circumstances, situations, issues, or concerns arising from areas within your life that you have prayed and prayed about with either no answer from God, no changes, or no relief in sight…Be honest…After all, one can never really and truly Grow in the Lord without complete and total honesty. I’m not saying that you have to go around “confessing” or “admitting” your frustrations to everyone you see, but you do need to “admit” and “confess” them to God…

But, you say…”Oh, no…I can’t tell God that I am upset or frustrated because HE has not answered my prayer the way that I want.” Why not? HE already knows it!! Believe me, I have had some mighty deep and personal prayers with God down through the years…I mean pouring out my every emotion, thought, concern, wish, and perspective…You say, “Oh, I’d never do that. God is Holy.” Yes, HE is…And, he knows that I’m NOT! ALL of man’s righteousness are as “filthy rags” in the sight of God…So, why try to hide who we are and how we feel from God…After all, HE alreadys know it. When you have a “best friend” you usually share with him or her your feelings about things. Let me encourage you that you have no great Friend that Christ Jesus!

I settled this matter a long time ago…One day during deep closet prayer I explained to GOD that my feelings of frustration and anger seemed to be justified as far as I could tell…Even the Bible states, “Be ye angry and sin not.” God knows that we experience at times a battery of different emotions. So, who better to tell your anger to than our Heavenly Father in personal, closet prayer. I mean when you want an increase in salary on your job your don’t present your case to the guy sitting next to you who can’t do a thing for you. You seek out the hierarchy of the place and set in to go step-by-step until you reach the top; the person in charge! Well, that’s how it is with closet Prayer…I go to the TOP! And, when I am in the presence of the ONE at the TOP who has ALL POWER to either change my circumstances or change me then I can leave my case at HIS feet!!! But, just suppose the person at the top won’t listen to your plea? Just suppose you keep marching to his office every day making an appointment to present your case and each time you get sent right back on your way…He (or she) simply will NOT hear you out…What happens? You get angry…You get upset…You get mad…You feel you are not being treated fairly…You want to quit; and sometimes you do…

Well, isn’t that how you feel when you petition God time and time again with a prayer need that seemingly is getting “pushed to the side” and unnoticed! You start feeling frustrated…You may even get upset and mad…You feel that God is not treating you fairly; after all HE did promise that HE would never leave nor forsake you…So, what’s up? In your mind and heart…you want to quit… You might even say something like, “I’ve had enough. I’m packing up my tool box and I’m going home.” Face it, we’ve all been there…And, God knows it…But, God is desparately wanting to teach and show us that HE is God no matter our circumstances or the length of time between asking for prayer requests and receiveing an answer. In other words, God is not our Santa Claus…He’s GOD! Higher and far more superior than we can ever think or imagine.

So, what happens after years and years of dealing with life’s frustrations? One or two things…You quit on God…Lots and lots of people do quit on God each day and each year…I would really hate to see the stats on such a thing…Or, you decide that God’s Ways are NOT your ways…And His thoughts are not your thoughts…HE’S GOD and HE can rule the universe or call the shots how HE wills…Not an easy thing to surrender to when your feet are kicking and your mouth is screaming! But, I have learned to take “comfort” that GOD does not rush to move at my demand, temper-tanturms, or earthly perspectives on how “I” see things…This is sometimes how our Faith is built…We learn that HE’s in charge and we really don’t have to “worry” about it the way we think we do…I may not “like” waiting on God, but there’s really not too much I can do about it…HE’s the Boss! And, I do mean the absolute, real, unchallenged BOSS who loves His servants also known as His children.

Do you want to know how I learned this? Through various storms and trials that God sent into our lives that did not work out the way we had wanted, hoped for, or prayed for….Doors that shut and NO ONE could open them, and GOD wouldn’t open them! It’s hard to learn that life is not all about “me,” “myself,” and “I” nor about “we,” “us,” or “ours.” It’s about God and them…All the “thems” that we know nothing about…But, God does! He SEES and KNOWS the Bigger Picture!

To be perfectly honest, sometimes (which is most times) I can’t explain what God is doing, why HE is doing it, or How HE is doing it…I just know (Believe!) that HE is…And, I believe God counted it unto Abraham as “righteousness” because he Believed!! I can take Comfort in Knowing that God is God!

Go ahead; talk to God in prayer…Tell him your feelings; your perspective; your will; your wishes; your wants; your desires, Your feelings, and your likes and dislikes. He already knows them, but HE is waiting for you to “surrender” them to HIM to see if you really and truly want HIS will in the matter or you just “talk” like you do…As the old saying goes, “talk is cheap!” And, believe me, God knows cheap talk! God knows when we are upset, frustrated, and angry because HE isn’t moving on the scene the way “we” think He should… Yet; He understands our turmoil over such things…Remember, HE IS GOD! I take comfort crying before God and sharing with Him my emotions…I know HE is listening to me even if HE chooses not to answer my prayer need in the fashion I desire…God is always a Just God…By faith I have learned that HE has a better plan…HE knows what I stand in need of and how it fits into the full picture; the total picture of my life…I can assure you that after you have cried out your heart, mind, feelings, and emotions before GOD HE will bring Comfort as NO one can…I can then say with the Apostle Paul, “I Find His Grace is Sufficient For Me.”

Let’s end in prayer: “Thank you Sweet Jesus that you love and understand the weak frame of your children and our human hearts and limited minds…We Praise you because you are not a god, but you are the GOD; the everlasting, all-knowing, all present GOD…Hallelujah…God thank you for those times when we can not take one-day-at-a-time but rather only one-second; one breath at a time to get through our circumstances…During such times, we can Trust You…You are ever Faithful…You will never leave nor forsake your own even when we do not and cannot understand THY ways…And, though our physical eyes cannot see…By Faith, we can crown you King of Kings and Lord of Lords over our lives until we meet face to face on that great eternal day in Heaven on high…Until then, please accept our “surrendered” weaknesses as proof of our faith, love, and belief in You…

Remember, God Loves You…Even in the darker times When God Seemingly Doesn’t Answer….

Day 3 Celebrating Immanuel

Celebrating Immanuel…

And, blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. And, Mary said, My soul doth magnify (praise) the Lord…Luke 1:46

Oh, my friend the amazing, eternal, and everlasting effects of one who “Believes.”

Noah believed God and through his belief he saved his own family and repopulated the world after the Great Flood.  Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him as “righteousness.”  Moses believed God and he lead the children of Israel out of bondage.  King David believed God and was called the “Apple of God’s Own Eye.” The Old Testament prophets believed God and risked their own lives telling others about the LORD.

On that most blessed day, over two thousand years ago, a young maiden named Mary believed God and as a result brought forth our Savior!  Thank you Lord Jesus for those who have believed, and for those who do believe, and for those who will one day believe…

But, what about those who do not believe God or believe in God?  Oh, my friend their effects are just as eternal and everlasting; passing down their unbeliefs to the third and fourth generations…and even beyond….

A genealogical study was performed by a group of university students and professors comparing the lives between two different contrasting families. One family was known as “believers” in God who practiced the teachings of the Bible.  The other family was “non-believers” who did not trust in God nor practice the teachings of the Bible.

As the study revealed, over several generations, the “believing” family possessed and contained several great and outstanding leaders including one founding US President, several senators, state and federal court judges, doctors, teachers, and lawyers.  On the other hand, over several generations spanning the same time periods, the “non-believing” family possessed and contained several bank robbers, drunkards, and ever murderers.  The “curse” of non-believing had made its mark!  And, the “blessings” of “Believing in God” had made its mark!

The simple “act” of “Believing in God” can never, never be underestimated…”For without Faith it is impossible to please God.”

Oh, my friend, like Mary, I, too, want my life to “magnify” (praise) the Lord…I want everyone I know to know that I am a believer and follower of God…I want all the generations that follow after me to believe and know God by Faith and through His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus…

Believing” does make a difference….All the difference in the world…An eternal difference…For those who believe will one day stand before a loving Savior who will wipe every tear from our eye and every pain and heartache from our bodies…But, woe unto those who do not believe, for they will one day stand before a Holy and Righteous God who will say, “Depart from me, I never knew you.”  As “believers,” our eternal home will be Heaven…And, sadly, the “unbeliever’s” eternal home will be a dreadful place of torment known as Hell…(Luke 16: 19-31).

Please don’t allow “unbelief” to steal your life here on earth and to seal your eternal destiny and abode.  Please do not allow “unbelief” to set the difficult course for future generations…Come to Jesus; come to Jesus in belief knowing that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He will do…Accept the greatest Christmas gift of all:  “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever BELIEVES in Him shall have everlasting life.”  (John 3:16).  God sent His Son for anyone who makes the choice to “believe.”  Won’t you believe?

I’m a Winner Either Way

From all appearances in life, we are not short on finding discouragement and despair within our society; if not the entire world.  Pressures, heartaches, financial crisis, sicknesses and diseases, hunger in three-fourths of the world, and just a general sense of unrest and instability surround us all.  It almost makes it hard to breathe at times; so we take long, deep sighs and wonder what is going to happen next.

I feel that we have become a generation that “nothing” seems to surprise us anymore. Things that were once considered tabooed and only talked about within the darkened secrets of closed closet doors are now celebrated from the roof tops as if those of us who still possess morals and have problems with open practices of sin are the ones at fault!  So, we have become silent on issues out of fear of not being “with it,” or that we might be considered old-fashioned, narrowed minded, uninformed, unintelligent, uneducated, and backwards.  Gee!  We seem to be “labeled” more than the free-spirit, partying, anything goes world that we currently lived!

But, God has not changed his standards one tiny bit….He is the same yesterday, today, and forever more…Sin is still sin….and God is still a Holy and Righteous God; one to be reverenced and respected.  Two very important words that our society has nearly forgotten their meanings or how to put them into practice.

What we need are some strong victories on our side. A few good battles won here and there to help spear us on towards the finish line. But, to be able to identify the true Biblical definition of what “victory” actually means, it would take a huge paradigm change on the part of most believers.

For instance, let’s look at Daniel found in the Old Testament. Even though he was tossed inside of the lion’s den, by the king’s men, hoping to be eaten alive, he didn’t feel defeated or that he had lost the battle.  As I have heard some preachers say, “He just cuddled up beside one of those lions and had a good night’s sleep.”  Another example is Paul and Silas who sang praises at mid-night believing they would be put to death at morning’s dawn.  Instead, they were delivered through the power of God.  Also, there are the three Hebrew children who were thrown into the fiery furnace for not bowing down to the king of Babylon only to walk out alive with no smoke smell of any sort on their clothes!  Plus, according to the Bible, Jesus got right in the flames with them and walked around until they were released!  (He’s walking around with us, too!)  Three mighty stories of Biblical victories arising from the ashes of defeating circumstances.  It can happen today; as well.

I am nearly certain that each of these men could have felt as if it was the end of life as they had known it and that their lives were now destined to defeat.  Yet; what made the difference?  I feel that we, as believers,  truly know the answer to that question…. It was an unwavering faith in God that no matter the circumstances or the outcome they were still victorious and on the winning side.

Back in October, 2005, I was rushed to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital with a pulsating brain aneurysm.  It was located deep inside of the brain and doctors were concerned if they would be able to repair the artery without serious complications.  If it ruptured it could mean death and if it bled into the brain it would affect both my speech and memory.  I was given two choices.  One, to have an extremely evasive brain surgery to permanently clip the aneurysm or a newer procedure that would allow doctors to fill the berry-shaped aneurysm with platinum coiling; less evasive, nevertheless risky just the same.  At the same time, our family was also going through a mountainous spiritual battle.  Not knowing how the situation would turn out, I looked at my sweet husband the night before the procedure and told him, “Hon, don’t worry. No matter what happens I’m a winner either way.”  A few years later, I heard a Southern Gospel group sing a song titled, “I’m a Winner Either Way, If I Go or If I Stay.” Talking about being able to relate! This old girl could surely relate to that song!

I feel that we base the meaning of victory too much on the world’s perception and the world’s standards.  For example; a man pastors a small church pretty much his entire life never leading a congregation of thousands; much less hundreds.  Some might shake their head and feel sorry for the poor old chap.  But, what if those were some of the happiest days in the lives of both he and his family?  Would you rather be miserable sitting in a huge crowd or happy serving God through a small group of people?

Because of man’s emphasis and misconception about what, “Victory- in-the-Lord,” actually means, many times pastors leave smaller congregations and people give up their service unto the Lord because of discouragement, lack of support from their friends and family members, and an overall sense of failure.  Ask yourself…Who is the loser in the long run?  I feel it might be everyone involved.  The prophet Elijah sit by the dried up river, yet God used the circumstances as a venue to demonstrate His powerful resources of provisions for mankind.  Today, are you facing some dried-up rivers right now in your own life?  I know I am.  God have mercy on our unbelief and help us all to have more faith in You.

Both our churches and our homes need to stop running around and acting as if our lives are judged like the Olympics based upon performance within our own self-power,  self-strength, self-discipline, and self-determination.  Whatever happened to just letting go and letting God be God?  That’s nearly an unheard of concept in our day and time.  After all we have all bought into the concept that only the fittest survive.   This is simply not true and not the case in the life of a believer.  As believers, we survive and thrive through God’s daily provisional measurements of Grace and Mercy…By allowing God to be God of our life….After all…That’s just who He is…God, the Creator of Life.  And this morning, I have victorious news.  If we are covered under the Blood…Then Praise be unto God…We are true, eternal winners no matter what the world may say!! Let’s hear an Amen!!

I recall as a young wife and mother sitting in a meeting one night and listening to an evangelist say, “Many of you sitting here tonight probably think that when we all get to heaven there is going to be a big celebration over all the well-known and successful ministers and evangelists. But, I’m here to tell you that the faithful grandmother who picks up the Word of God each day and prays for that boy or for that girl and for her family will out weigh them all!! Her price is far above all the rubies of the world!”

That stuck with me. I have always wanted to be that faithful wife, mom, and grandmother who stands the test of time, toting my little Bible to church, and bending my knees in prayer over the lives of my children and my children’s children; as far as my prayers can reach down through the generations of time.

When we look at life from a Biblical perspective, then ask yourself this question, “Why are we so discouraged and filled with despair?” Why do we run to the world for their misconceived ideas and support?  Today, is just another God-given opportunity to pray for the loss, the back-slidden, and the downtrodden. Another day to Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Another day to lift up our hearts, spirits, and lives unto Him…Oh, the joy and power of sweet prayer.  Sweet, Sweet Hour of Prayer.

Afterall, we won’t really see the final results of our prayers until we reach Heaven; that glorious city of God.  Until then, my heart will go on singing for wherever there is prayer; there is hope. And, wherever there is hope; there is promise, and wherever there is promise; there is Faith; and wherever there is faith…There is God…And, wherever there is God; there is Victory!

Today, I encourage you to not be discouraged or dismayed…spend a little time with Jesus knowing that even though we might be standing alone in the lion’s den, being thrown into the fiery burning furnace, or cast into the cold prison cells of life….Our Heavenly Father has already won the battle; and so shall we… whether on this side of eternity or on the other side of life ever-lasting…I’m a Winner Either Way….”For the battle’s not mine; I give it to you…Lord, it’s thine!”

Today, I am on the winning side. And, you are, too; if you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.  Through the Blood of Christ Jesus, I am on the Winning Side…I’m a Winner Either Way…Are you?

Remember, God Loves You,
