Fret Not Yourself…

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers.” (Psalm 37:1).

Welcome to springtime 2017…And just in case someone in your life is causing you a lot of pain and grief right now, just remember God loves you and HE sees and hears all.

The Bible provides us with instructions on how to handle the daily stresses and uncomfortable, challenging situations in our life; especially when dealing with unreasonable people who want to hurt us emotionally. The Psalmist David wrote, “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.” That little word, “fret” simply means, worry, trouble, bother, or upset. In other words, do NOT allow evildoers to worry, trouble, bother, or upset you. The Psalmist also tells us not to be envious of their wrong doings.

Many times it seems that those who commit evil acts and wrong deeds against us go unpunished and some even seem to be celebrated in their wickedness. But, as followers of Christ, we can “Trust in the Lord, and do good…Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him…And, cease from any and all anger; for yet a little while and the wicked shall not be nor the works of their wickedness prevail.” (Psalm 37).

As a Christian, I can take great comfort in knowing that my GOD knows the intentions and motives of every man’s heart. The wicked may plot against those they dislike, envy, or wish to hurt. But, this is not so with the upright in heart. A righteous man wants the “best” for all and even prays for his enemies. The Bible says that the Lord knows the way of the upright and he shall not be ashamed. But, the ways of the wicked shall perish.

Just as winter has given way to summer the workers of iniquity will have end to their season as well. But, for those who place their Trust in Christ they shall not be ashamed nor perish. Their trust and works of righteousness in Christ shall live on forever and forever. For the Christian, a forthcoming glorious, eternal springtime in Christ, absent of all evil and wickedness, awaits. Oh, What a Glorious Day that will Be…Amen.

Remember, God Loves You!

Jesus Came to Save that Which Was Lost…

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10 KJV).

Have you ever lost something of great value? I know I have.

A few years ago I was sitting in my recliner twisting my wedding ring around on my finger when it slipped off and fell between the metal bar and the inside of the chair. The space was way too small to reach my hand down to retrieve it. I turned the chair over on its side and eventually upside down trying to get to my wedged in ring. A full hour went by with my trying unsuccessfully to get my ring.

My husband decided the only way to get the ring was to rip the side of the chair apart thus destroying the chair that matched the rest of the furniture. It was an option, but my last option! My husband went on to bed while I continued reaching from every angle imaginable trying to get my ring. I even took a wire hangar to reach it, but not even that helped. The ring was definitely stuck in a very secure spot. But, it was my wedding ring and I was not about to let it stay in that spot forever.

I began to pray and ask Jesus to please help me get to the ring. Hour upon hour went by without success. It was around 2:00 AM in the morning, and I had been trying to retrieve the ring for four hours, when all of a sudden the ring just turned loose and fell out underneath the chair. It was a miracle because nothing that I had done for the past four hours had helped. I gave ALL the credit to Jesus and thanked Him for retrieving my ring for me.

To be honest, Jesus understands losing something of value then doing what only HE can do to get it back. Man’s fellowship with God was lost in the Garden of Eden. Without the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the Cross and His amazing Resurrection that most valued fellowship of all would still be lost. But, Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost; the souls of man from eternal separation from our Heavenly Father and Creator; God.

Just like the miracle I experienced that night with my ring, Jesus can find the loneliest sinner wedged in the most remote place and return him or her back to the Heavenly Father as pure as snow. My friend, if you or you know someone today that is “lost” and without Jesus as their personal Savior, He is only a prayer away. Won’t you call upon Him today? Remember, He came to seek and to save that which was lost. Amen

Words of Wisdom to End the Year…

After my morning devotion, I was reflecting upon the advice and wisdom of our elders. When I was around 13 years old I asked my grandmother if she thought I was pretty. She very quickly responded, “Pretty is as pretty does.” She then added, “The Lord sees the heart. You must first be pretty within to be pretty without.” She was absolutely right. A beautiful person can truly mess up their lives with wrong choices and bad behavior.

Another saying of wisdom is, “Waste not and want not.” You don’t see very many people “saving” things these days. Abundance seems to be the norm, so people tend to use what they want and throw the rest away. It wasn’t always like that. My generation was raised by those who had lived through the depression. We were taught to use only what we needed and to take good care of the things we did have.

Other words of wisdom included, “cleanliness is next to godliness,” “a stitch in time saves nine,” “to have friends one must be friendly,” and “he’s (or she’s) so lazy he wouldn’t work in a pie factory tasting pies!” These simple lines of wisdom were once used to guide, shape, and mold a person’s life; and, they worked! I still find myself not taking more paper towels than I need, making sure my house stays clean, fixing something before it gets worse, and Lord knows hearing my mother’s voice inside of my head asking me if I don’t have something to do whenever I’m just doing nothing!

However, these days we’re not suppose to make anyone feel guilty or bad about themselves…Well, how is that working?? We now have a generation that feels entitled and believes anyone interfering with their life choices is mean and holding them back! Sure; we’re trying to hold them back alright…Hold them back from a future of unemployment and poverty, immoral living and self-destruction. Shame, shame on us!

So, fifty years ago should my grandmother had responded, “Oh, yes, Linda, you are beautiful no matter what you do.” No, I’m glad she told me the truth…“The Lord sees the heart. You must first be pretty within to be pretty without.” Thank you, Grandma! You were certainly right!

Why I Stand with GOP Candidate Donald Trump

As many Americans watched the third and final presidential debate last night, it became quite clear of the major differences between the two candidates.  Yes; one is much more polished and perceived as being more politically correct.  The other is new to politics and has the charm at times of a bull in a china shop.  But, don’t let that fact turn you away from the issues at hand.  America’s foundation and future is at stake and we just may need a “bull” to get the job done!

But, even if the GOP candidate was NOT Donald J. Trump, I would still vote Republican just as I have voted Republican for the last several elections. And, here are some reasons why:  The GOP is the only political party in American that still, in spite of all its faults and failures, recognizes GOD as our Creator and Supreme ruler and leader.  We the people may elect a president, but GOD is still our Heavenly Father and Jesus our reigning King.  I fully understand this reason will be greatly challenged and ignored by those who do NOT believe in GOD in the first place.  For those who are either atheist or agnostic I’m sure you disagree; that is your political freedom to do so.

My second reason for remaining a Republican; despite our numerous challenges is, “Right to Life.” Being a Christian, I believe that life begins at conception. God told Jeremiah that he “knew him before he was formed.” (Jeremiah 1).  Last night, I sat in total dismay hearing the Democratic candidate, Hillary R. Clinton confirm her stand on last-minute abortion as being the “government” not interfering with a woman’s choice.  Oh, but how she is misleading her constituents. When “government” allows its citizens to “weed out” (even at the last minutes before birth) the “unwanted,” sick and/or weak that is in fact total governmental take-over at the highest level!  It is also a government that has chosen to disregard God’s law to do what is right in its own eyes.  As hard as this may be for some to read, Abortion is murder in the first degree of innocent life; a sin that can be forgiven but nevertheless a sin against God’s laws.

Thirdly, Mrs. Clinton promises to uphold non-traditional marriages of gays and lesbians.  It is very difficult for a conservative Christian like myself to explain to a gay or lesbian that we do NOT “hate” them, but we cannot endorse, recognize, or stand up for their alternative sexual choices as it goes directly against God’s plan for the family; one man and one woman.  As I have heard it stated down through the years, “God made Adam and Eve; not Adam and Steve.”  God does not make such mistakes…Such actions are the result of the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden…But, through God’s redemption plan HE can provide a way out of such mindsets through the Saving and Biblical knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  I know that there are certain religions and churches that recognize, accept, and even honor those who find love within their own gender, but this is not what the Bible plainly teaches in the New Testament book of Romans chapter one as well as God’s judgment on Old Testament cities that practiced such ways of life.

Lastly, Mrs. Clinton called Donald Trump supporters, “deplorables.”  A deplorable person is someone without moral values, disgusting, intolerable, and unintelligent.  The majority of Donald Trump’s supporters are Republicans as he was chosen as our party’s candidate.  Who was Mrs. Clinton referring when she called Mr. Trump’s followers “deplorables?” Those of us who believe in “right to life,” “the sanctity of the family unit,” “right to bear arms,” “higher education,” and a conservative supreme court system that will uphold the U.S. Constitution in the matter in which it was intended?  I do not believe such people should be labeled as “deplorables.” Yet; she reaches out to an audience who aborts the unborn; even innocent babies only minutes before birth, and those who mock and laugh in the face of God that they can live and love whomever they please.  She also supports a welfare system that encourages “hand-outs” instead of job placement.  These issues to me are deplorable.

But, being a Christian, I know that GOD is Love and we must not “hate” those whom do not yet know the LIGHT of the GOSPEL of the True Living God; we must pray for them.  And, I do pray for my nation as a whole. I pray for this country daily as I see it slip farther and father into abyss; a darkness that only GOD himself will be able to overcome.  The Bible says for GOD’s people to pray, repent, and turn from “our” evil ways. God doesn’t address the lost, unsaved, dying world to turn away from their evil ways, but HE instructs HIS children to return faithfully unto Him; not possessing a “form” of godliness but relying on the Power of God to overcome sin through the precious blood of Jesus.

If this election does anything, I pray that it will open the eyes of those apatheic to our nation’s at-risk condition and seek to return the will of the people over to the Will of God.  And, God’s will often includes “judgment” upon those whom turn their backs on Him and deny His right to rule within the hearts and minds of the people.  Scriptures often illustrates a time of judgment before a time of revival.  We must be prepared mentally, emotionally, physically, and most importantly spiritually for the days of ahead should our nation continue to falter in the  erroneous path towards the “rights of the people” (doing that which is right in their own eyes) over that of the teachings of Scripture.

As an American voter, I have two main choices to choose from; The Republican platform and its candidate or the Democratic platform and it’s candidate.  Today, I choose the Republican party and our candidate Donald J. Trump; for better or for worse simply because the Republican party reflects my personal values regarding right-to- life, the traditional family unit, state-rights, 2nd amendment, and God as being Supreme.

May God Bless American and ever be with us as a nation that places it trust in HIM.

IN GOD WE TRUST.

America…My Home Sweet Home

What has happened to, “America, My Home Sweet Home?”  Disrespect, division, destruction, devastation, danger, and death now parade the streets of our land that were once safe, secure, and serene.  All over our nation from coast to coast no one is immune from homeland violence or even attacks of terror.  We seem to be losing our firm foundation of Peace, Prosperity, and Promise.

I don’t know about you but this is not the America I once lived in nor want to leave behind to my grandchildren and future generations. I want future generations to know the same “Sweet Apple Pie” America made up of Faith in our Judaeo-Christian God, love, family and friends, dedication, determination, and hard work that actually formed the core of our society.

So many things disturb me about our nation all the way from the pulpits to the airways of social media. We have gone astray.  God has never called us to be a perfect nation or a perfect people, but HE has called us to obedience, faithfulness, and steadfastness.  No where has HE offered a society to be watered-down to a cesspool of “anything goes.” There are strong, uncompromising, life-binding Biblical standards that rule the hearts and lives of God’s people; both Jews and Christians and we must return to them.

First, Jesus is LORD!  There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we can be, shall be, or must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Second, Sin is still and always will be Sin!  For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).  No man or woman is excluded…We have ALL failed our Creator God. And, in HIS loving-kindness and Mercy HE gave us HIS Son, Jesus for our salvation. “For God so loved the world that HE gave HIS only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Third, lack of faith in God, immorality, and idolatry are man’s greatest sins against God.  We are living in a global society that honors disbelief, sexual pleasures, and man as being his own god.

Any good Bible student of both the Old and New Testaments know that GOD himself will not sit in silence on these issues forever.  There is coming a pay-day and it may be a whole lot sooner than most people think.

Today, if you are struggling with societal issues as well as personal issues, I encourage you to seek first the kingdom of our LORD through Jesus Christ.  Second, I encourage to examine your beliefs to see if they align with God’s Holy Word, the Bible.  Third, confess your faults (sins) to Jesus and ask Him to bring about His presence, peace, and promises into your life.

Lastly, let us pray together for our nation that through its citizens we will return to the GOD of our heritage where Faith in Christ abounds and Love surrounds.  Amen.

Where Could I Go But to the Lord?

“Where Could I Go But to the Lord?”

Many of you may remember this old familiar hymn sung down through the years. But, its lyrics are timeless. “Living below in this old sinful world…” How true. And, it’s a world that is getting more sinful by the minute.

People today seem confused, unaware, and uneducated as to what is “right” from what is “wrong.” Our nation’s leaders have all but gone astray following after the lust of the flesh and the sinful desires of the world. We almost seem hopeless; lost in a world gone mad.

But, thanks be unto our GOD through the blood of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ, we have HOPE when all seems lost. There is NO other place to go but unto the Lord; our rock and fortress in the time of both personal and national need. Shootings, killings, hate crimes, and ungodly acts of sinful behavior bombard our world’s airways and media. We never know from day-to-day what is going to happen next. But, I know someone who does…And, HE is the same someone whom I place my Hope, Trust, and Faith…Jesus.

The Bible teaches us that in the “last days” (before the return of Jesus) perilous (dangerous, unsafe, terrifying) times shall come. It goes on to say, “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, unrestrained, fierce, despiser of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away.” (II Timothy 3)

The Apostle Paul wrote this message nearly 2,000 years ago but it is as timely as our front page news being portrayed right in front of our eyes. Thanks be unto our Lord I do have a place to go; a place of refuge and shelter from the storms and the hustle and bustle of everyday life. “Where Could I Go But to the Lord?” The answer is simple, “there is NO better place to go.”

It is my prayer that you know this place to go…The place is called Calvary where Jesus died to protect and to deliver us from our sins and the works of a sinful world gone mad.

Do not fear; do not be dismayed for God will bring ALL things unto His glorious Power and Strength as the day quickly approaches when Jesus shall return to set up His earthly kingdom and God himself shall wipe away all our tears. Oh, what a Day that will be! Until then, my heart will go on singing and praising the LORD for there is no other place to go but unto the Lord. Amen.

“It Came to Pass…”

It Came to Pass…

The phrase, “It came to pass” occurs over and over again in the Old Testament Scriptures. Example: “It came to pass after four hundred and thirty years that all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt” (II Chronicles 20). Many times the above phrase is used in association with a long, extended amount of time between happenings and events. However, neither you nor I will ever know the end results of many matters here on earth that last or continue way past our life time. So, how do we learn to deal with such truth?

One way is found in God’s sufficient Grace. God has given His children a very special measurement of faith, strength, and ability to endure such matters in life through His special gift called GRACE. The Apostle Paul wrote in his second letter to the Corinthians that he had found God’s “Grace sufficient in all things.” As a matter of fact, it was actually the LORD himself who told Paul that His Grace is sufficient and we shall find power in our weaknesses (times of enduring and adversities.)

Today, you may be enduring a long-standing matter or situation that has you at your wit’s end. Day after day, month after month, the situation remains the same. Oh, my friend let me encourage you to HOLD ON TO HOPE in Christ Jesus who can give you His sufficient strength in times of adversities. Remember, you are never alone in God’s arms.

Each day, through prayer and supplication, give your troubles, worries, concerns, weaknesses, and long-standing adversities over to Jesus for in doing so you will truly find God’s Grace is sufficient in all areas and matters of your life.

When our three daughters were babies I wrote a song I titled, “Lord, Give Me the Strength I Need.” Today, those same little girls are now wives and mothers of their own depending upon that same strength to get them through each passing day. Whether it be a heavy burden or just a normal day at home you can always find God’s Grace is sufficient for each need.

Also, let me encourage you that whether a situation comes to pass or comes to stay in your life God’s Grace is always sufficient for your every need. Let His strength become your daily strength in all situations and matters. For in doing so you will find Peace that passes all understanding. Amen and Amen.
