Election Day…It’s Time to be Heard

Election Day…It’s Time to be Heard…

Tomorrow, November 4, 2014, will be an important day in the lives of Americans. It is mid-term election day. Oh, how I wish that ALL Americans would take part in their civic duty to vote the convictions of their heart. It is a privilege as well as duty. But, sadly, too many people will neglect this most valued trust and allow “others” to be their voice. But, “It’s Time to be Heard.”

If you are like me you are probably wondering which “voice” will be heard? Will it be the super liberal voice that chooses to uphold every whim and wham that comes along with little to no restrictions or restraints whatsoever? Or, will it be the more conservative voice that upholds logical boundaries and standards to protect everyone within our society as a whole? If you are a follower of my blog, you already know where I stand…I am a conservative who upholds traditional family values and Christian principles. So, my voice will be heard as a conservative.

It’s not against the law to stand on one side or the other. I have the same right to vote as the super liberal; and the super liberal has the same right to vote as me. That’s the privilege of voting one’s own conscience and convictions. The problem lies within those who seek “not” to vote either way, but live with the choices of others.

As an American I have the right to speak out against abortion. I have the right to speak out against non-traditional marriages. However; I am for the protection of innocent life, and I am for the protection of traditional marriage. I am against Hollywood’s attempts to magnify sin and make fun of righteousness. I am for the promotion of righteousness and against the magnification of sin. I liked it better when the good guys won and the bad guys lost. Life was much simpler then.

I am for protecting our nation’s borders and protecting our citizens against wide-spread diseases such as Ebola. I am for the support of Israel and against the wide-spread terror of radical Islam. I am for a strong military and support of military families all across the globe. I am for the protection of our elderly and care for our poor who truly cannot fend for themselves. But, I am against the redistribution of wealth to give to those who do not seek to work, but rather seek to receive the benefits of someone else’s hard work. I support and uphold education; both public and private. And, I am persuaded in the belief that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and the only way to God. I believe that there is a Heaven to gain and a hell to shun for the Christian Believer.

This is who I am…And, currently within the borders of my nation, I have the right to stand on these principles whether they are currently popular or not. And, that my friend is what election day is all about. “It’s a Time to be Heard.” VOTE!

Redistribution of Work and Service

Redistribution of Work and Service.

There’s a lot of talk these days about the redistribution of wealth in America. But, I have a better idea…How about a “redistribution of work and service?”

We’ve all heard the 80/20 rule: “20 percent of the people do “all” the work while 80 percent let them!” But, what if that rule was “redistributed” to 80% of the population doing all the work and service and 20% letting them! What a difference that would make within our nation, our work force, our homes, our families, and our churches.

Just think for a moment. What if 80% of our nation’s population was employed and earnestly worked a good day’s work for a good day’s pay? What if 80% of our churches all across our nation were filled every Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Wednesday night prayer meetings with at least 80% of their congregation? What if 80% of Christians witnessed each and every day to their lost and dying friends, neighbors, and co-workers? A “redistribution” of mindset towards placing “value” on hard work and service could actually turn our nation completely around!

I wonder what it would be like if only 20% of the population shopped at Wal-Mart on Sundays because the other 80% was at church. What if our sports arenas and stadiums were only filled at 20% on Sundays because 80% of the people within our nation would be attending church? What if on Monday mornings 80% of our nation’s population got up early, got dressed, and got to their place of employment on time with a mindset to put in a good day’s work? Do you get my point? We need to teach our nation’s children that it is an honor to be on the “good” side of the 80/20 rule; the side that works and provides services unto others. We need to teach our churches that it is an honor to be on the “good” side of the 80/20 rule in attendance, giving, tithing, and serving others.

For so many years now, many of us have been a part of the 20% who have plowed and worked ourselves like crazy to make up for the 80% who simply refuse to do their part. So, instead of marketing the philosophy of redistributing wealth, I propose we market the idea of “redistributing work and service!”

I firmly believe that IF this particular philosophy was accepted and practiced across our nation that the wealth factor would simply take care of itself! In closing, let me ask you this question…If you were asked today which side of the 80/20 rule do you belong what would your answer be? Then, ask yourself what answer would your friends, family, and co-workers say you’d be?

Remember, “Whatever you do, work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.” (Colossians 3:23).

The Bible…Lamp Unto My Feet

The Bible…Lamp Unto My Feet…

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (Psalm 119:105)

If you live in America, you are most likely aware of the new History Channel series, “The Bible.” For the past three Sunday nights in a row, it has been the number one rated television program watched between the hours of 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Americans are hungry for good entertainment as well as hungry to know more about God. The combination has resulted in a “hit” TV series.

But, wait! Two days ago controversy showed up! It seems that the character playing Satan has a strong physical resemblance and appearance to our nation’s president, Mr. Obama. What?! Naturally, the media is in a frenzy suggesting that the writers and producers of the show deliberately made Satan’s character to look like the President. What?! Are you kidding me?

My first thought on the subject was wondering if Charlton Heston’s portrayal of Moses favored anyone’s uncle or grandfather? Surely, he must have favored someone while in character! Perhaps, not the President of the USA, but someone! And, what about all the men who have played Roman soldiers down through the years nailing Jesus to the cross, do they look like anyone you know? And, I’m pretty certain that one lady who portrayed Mary Magdalene in one of the many versions of Bible movies favored a distant cousin of mine! Stop the presses! These allocations must be investigated!

But, let’s be real…We are talking about the character of Satan looking like President Obama…Mmmm….Coincident…Planned…Coincident…Planned….Mmmm. You decide…I’m sure there are as many answers to that question as there are noses in the world…So, those who love and adore our President are offended. Those who don’t share in his popularity are possibly having a good laugh…Perhaps, we will find other characters creeping in who look like famous people we know…Wait…That would be, oh yea, Actors and Actresses…But, I haven’t seen Tom Cruise or Ryan Reynolds or Sandra Bullock or Meg Ryan or Diane Lane….Mmmm….But, I’ll keep watching just in case! In the meantime, I just hope the “STORY” of the real BIBLE gets across to viewers that GOD is HOLY and GOD LOVES YOU AND ME….

So, the heart of the matter…The next time you put on a church play, production, musical, television program, or even walk down the street make sure you don’t look like one of the nation’s top ranked politicians; especially the President…Sorry, Mr. President…

Author’s Note: What are my personal feelings about the series, “The Bible?” Well, I’m enjoying it, but as with most movies the BOOK is always better!
