It is good to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To show forth thy lovingkindness in the morning and thy faithfulness every night. (Psalm 92:1-2).
You may be in a season of your life right now when offering and giving of thanks seems way too hard and difficult. Circumstances and situations have brought you to your knees in heartache, despair, and tears. You may feel as if you will never smile again. Life can be and is often very tough on the heart. But, there is good news in the midst of heartache and despair. There is ONE who knows and feels your pain and that ONE is Christ Jesus.
Jesus came to die to heal your broken heart and wounded spirit. As we all know, this life offers all things in vain. One day we may have it all and the next day it can all be gone. But, the things that Jesus offer and give are everlasting and eternal. We can even have eternal life through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (See John 3:16).
When in a season of deep despair it is good to look beyond the realms of this life into the life that Jesus came to give unto us. Recently, our family faced two deaths within three weeks apart; one from a long standing illness of Alzheimer’s and the other very unexpectedly. As I stood holding my twenty-nine year old niece while watching her mother take her last breaths my heart was broken. What was to be a two-night stay in the hospital from exploratory surgery to remove two cancerous tumors suddenly turned into our worse fears. While in recovery, my sister-in-law’s blood pressure began to sharply drop. She was transferred to ICU and placed on a ventilator. Within a few days her body began to shut down. My brother-in-law had to make the difficult decision to remove her from life support. She died within an hour. But, we all knew as we gathered around her hospital bed that we would see her again one day in a brand new glorified body liken unto our Lord.
Our Hope is in Christ Jesus. HE is the Hope and promise that Believers possess. Daily, Believers (Christians) can give thanks and sing praises because we know Jesus is the Giver of Life; eternal life.
Today, I encourage you to give thanks unto our Lord and to sing praises unto His name for in doing so you can find strength to overcome and to face each and every day. As the scriptures teach, “I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13).
If you do not know this Jesus yet as your personal Savior, it is my prayer that you too will become a “Believer” and a “Follower”of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches, “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Yes, my friend, it is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto His name. Amen.
Remember, God Loves You!
