Here Comes the Holidays!

Here Comes the Holidays…

“A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” Ecclesiastes 3:4

The Holiday Season is now upon us and with it comes various preparations, traditions, routines, programs, traveling, card sending, letter writing, shopping, purchases, wrappings, decorating, cooking and baking, gatherings and feastings, giving and receiving, clean up and pick up, returns, and exhaustion…Ahh…a time to laugh and a time to weep…:)

The Holidays bring into our lives times of laughter, excitement, and merriment…But, they can also remind us of the more lonely and sadder times within our lives…Not everyone gets to travel. Not every family gathers to feast. Not everyone has the time, health, nor money to shop until they drop. Not every family can purchase and decorate a tree…And, some children may not find that special gift on Christmas morn…And, many families each year are separated by the winds and distant miles of “service unto our country.” And, some are even sadly reflecting upon the recent loss of a loved one…A time to mourn.

Thus, we enter into a season that requires the need for “balance.” We must be careful to “balance” our lives, our purses, our taste buds, our emotions, and our energies during the upcoming days and weeks ahead…

As a child, I could not wait until the holidays to get to spend time at my grandparents’ homes with all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins…To me, that is one of the more valued reasons of the holiday season as well as being thankful and grateful for all that God has provided and done in our lives…But, even I had to accept that our family could not always “gather” as it once had…We live in a different time and mindset than we did back in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s when gathering together with the family had more meaning and opportunities…Today, emails, texts, and Facebook have taken over traditional gatherings around the table or sitting in front of the fireplace with loved ones…But, don’t get me wrong…I’m very thankful to be able to see pictures and hear from family members whom I cannot be with in person…So, I, too, must be careful to keep my own emotions in check and in balance…Keeping focused on the truer and real meaning of the Holidays…A Time to slow down, stop, reflect, and be Thankful to our Creator for all of our Blessings

This Holiday Season I wish everyone a time of “balance” as they carry out and conduct their own traditions and customs…But, most importantly, I wish everyone “JESUS” into their hearts and lives. For Jesus is the Reason for the Season…. Christmas is ALL about JESUS; a time to celebrate the greatest birth on Earth; the greatest display of God’s Love towards sinful man…

This season, let’s not allow “all” the others activities and wishes in our lives to rob us of the true meaning of the Season…A time to reflect upon Elohim God, Mighty Owner of Earth; Jehovah God the Great I Am; Emmanuel God being interpreted, “God is With Us…” And, if God be for us, who can be against us.” Now, that’s something to truly celebrate!! A time to dance…
Amen…

For me, the Holidays and “EVERYDAY” are a summary of John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that HE gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting Life, for God sent not His son into the world to condemn it, but that the world through Him might be saved.” Hallelujah, Amen! Thank you Jesus for this Holiday Season…For Without You where would I be?….

And, on that note…Happy Forthcoming Holiday Season!

A Month of Thanksgiving

A Month of Thanksgiving…

Like so many others on Facebook, I, too, joined in on writing about “something” or “someone” that I am thankful. For day one, November 1st, I wrote that I am thankful for God and the Gift of Life. Too many times we forget that “life” itself is a very precious gift.

I think of the countless number of babies who die before they even get to take their first breath; either by natural cause or sadly by the hands of a mother who chose to abort her pregnancy. I have two siblings who died before birth and one grand baby. All were the victims of spontaneous miscarriages during the first trimester. I can recall the grief that my mother felt after losing two babies. As a result of the two miscarriages, she was not able to bear anymore children, so I am an only child. But, one day I will joyously meet face to face my two siblings who have been living this entire time with Jesus.

And, I have one precious grand baby living in Heaven who will one day meet her two earthly sisters as well. One day, the Family Circle of Life will never again be broken. No more miscarriages or deaths of tiny, innocent babies. This is why “life” for those of us who have been blessed to be physically born should never, never be taken for granted; no matter our circumstances.

Life is a gift and one that should be honored and respected. And, one very good way to honor and respect our lives is to Honor and Respect the ONE who gave us life; God. A few weeks ago I was at the doctor’s office for a check-up. While I was waiting for the doctor to come in I intently looked at a poster of a human body with all of its many bones, organs, muscles, veins, and arteries; quite a complex sight to say the least. I thought to myself how can anyone not believe in God? How can anyone believe that man just “evolved” from some sort of particle or other species of life? No; no, my friend, the human body is very cleverly and intelligently designed…each part working together to make a whole body. There is absolutely no way under the sun that “life” just happened!

The ONLY explanation for the complex and multifaceted design of a human being is found in the Bible in the book of Genesis, chapter one, “In the beginning, God…” For me, that settles it all! Life itself is a precious and well-designed plan directly spoken, made, and formed by God. And, since I didn’t have to do one thing to receive it; it is a Gift!

Life is the finest gift anyone can ever possess. And, what makes this “first” physical life so fine, valuable, and important? Because, it gives me and any one else the opportunity to Trust God as our personal Savior through Jesus Christ to inherit eternal Life! (John 3:16)…As a result, my life is a life that will keep on keeping on even after I leave this present walk of life…Oh, what a Gift of Life is mine!

I pray that you treasure and value this Gift of Life as well and that you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior; so that your life in HIM will never end…Amen…

The Offense of the Cross

The Offense of the Cross

On Thursday, November 7, 2013, many of us passionately and lovingly watched our beloved, ninety-five years old, Rev. Billy Graham render a heartfelt message of Hope to all Americans…”It’s Still the Blood of Jesus that sets man free.” Thank you Dr. Graham for sticking to the Bible, for standing on the Truth, and for declaring that none other but Jesus Christ can take away our sins and make us whole again.

If our nation needs to hear any message of Hope, any words of encouragement, or any words of divine wisdom it needs to hear about Jesus and the Cross. The Apostle Paul stated, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” (I Corinthians 1:18 KJV). No other man-made religion possesses the Power of the Cross that takes away our sins, pays our sin debt, and reconciles sinful man back to a Holy, Righteous God. And, no other man was completely SINLESS and qualified to die upon the Old Rugged Cross than God’s only begotten Son, Jesus (John 3:16).

In addition to the absolute necessity of Jesus’ death on the Cross to pay for mankind’s sins, no other man born unto woman could bring forth the glorious Resurrection Power from the Grave to live and to reign for all eternity but our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…Praise be unto the Name of our Lord…

I can almost see why non-believers and other non-believing religions want to destroy the Gospel of the Cross. They cannot match it nor can they imitate it. Only Christianity can claim the abundant Promises of God through Christ Jesus. For neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 KJV). Buddha cannot save a man’s soul from Hell. Mohammad cannot save a man’s soul from Hell. Even beloved King David of Israel could not save a man’s soul from Hell. Only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary can a man’s soul be saved from Hell and delivered from the sinful one, Satan.

Jesus not only can save a man’s soul from death, but in the Name of Jesus both a man and woman alike can find life anew, joyous strength, and power to overcome the wicked one. So many today live in darkness without the Power of Christ Jesus to overcome sin(s) or sin’s debts. Alcoholism is costly. Drug addiction is costly. Fornication is costly. Stealing and Robbery are costly. Lying and Cheating are costly. Murder and Deception are costly. And, it cost Jesus Christ His life to pay the eternal price for these sins and all other manners of rebellion and transgressions against our Holy God. But, through Jesus Christ alone any man or woman willing to call upon His name can find HOPE to overcome sin(s) and to reconcile their life back unto God and enjoy the sweet fellowship and joys of the Lord.

Oh, my friend, you may not know Jesus today as your personal Savior, but you can. Only Trust Him. Only Trust Him…Stop what you are doing and call upon His name. Cry out admitting that you are a sinner lost without hope. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ asking Him to come into your heart and into your life saving you from your sins. Then, go tell someone about your new Faith in God through Jesus. Call a friend who you know to be a Christian. Or, call a Pastor. Call a loved one; a father, mother, sister, or brother to let them know that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord. You will never, never regret your decision and choice to follow Jesus. And, remember without the Cross, Salvation in Jesus would not and could not be possible…Jesus Paid it All; All to Him I Owe; I will Glory in the Cross.

In closing, I want to also encourage you that after you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart to seek out a home church where the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached and taught. Church is a place where you can grow in the Lord and a place where you can find fellowship with other believers. Amen…

Are You Happy?

Are You Happy?

What makes you Happy? Think about it. What really makes you Happy? A new car? A new wardrobe? A new friend? Perhaps, a trip out of town? When you think about it there are all kinds of possibilities to “make” us happy. But, with these types of things the “new” usually wears off with time and you are left searching for another “fix” to make you happy.

But, what if you found a way to keep “happiness” within you at all times; no matter the situation, circumstance, or matter? God tells us that there is a way. God teaches us to, “Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of Heaven and His Righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt. 6:33 KJV). It is sad how some people simply refuse to accept and apply this most promising Biblical Truth into their lives. Decade after decade passes and they still run after superficial, shallow, external, and trivial objects to make temporary “fixes” of happiness into their lives. It’s like watching a dog chase his own tail…They just keep running around and around without accomplishing what they are running after. But, I have found that there is nothing more satisfying or brings more happiness in life than Seeking and Serving God’s own Son, Jesus Christ.

For me, there’s nothing more fulfilling than sitting on a church pew hearing the Words of God proclaimed and preached from the pulpit. There’s nothing more soothing than singing in sweet harmony the Songs of Zion. There’s nothing more exciting and rewarding than seeing a lost soul surrender his or her life to the Lord. And, what’s so wonderful about this type of happiness? It never fades! And, I don’t have to wait for a new, improved, or updated version…God is the Same, Yesterday, Today, and Forever…His JOYS are never ending and never ceasing and need not be improved upon…When I trust in Jesus I have the real deal forever and forever. (Hebrews 13:8).

Maybe, you are one who attends church on occasion or when the opportunity presents itself. That’s good; but what is better is when you attend church regularly and faithfully (as your physical health allows) and grow in the Lord with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Making your foundation solid, sure, and steady in the Lord promotes God’s Spirit of Joy and Happiness within your heart that even flows over to those around you. Because my husband is a retired Pastor, I have been at the bedside of one who is about to die. I have witnessed both peace and fear in the eyes of the one dying as well as in the eyes of their loved ones and friends. Not once have I ever heard a dying person say, “Oh, I wish I had one more new car.” Or, “I wish I had one more new dress.” Or, “I wish I had taken one more trip.” But, I have heard them say, “Oh, how I wish I had served my Lord better.” That should be the longing of every Christian’s heart…To serve the Lord better.

I believe we discover real, lasting, and satisfying happiness when we seek to Serve our Lord better each and every day; for in doing so we learn that GOD himself brings into our lives those things that HE knows bring about godly happiness. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. And, all these things shall be added unto you. Amen…Are you happy today?
