Earth’s losses…Heaven’s Gains
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward. (Romans 8:18 KJV)
I love when the Lord puts a thought into my heart to ponder. As I was driving home today from visiting my mother-in-law in the nursing home, God seemed to say to my heart, “Earth’s losses are only temporary but Heaven’s gains are permanent.” This set my mind into action. Wow! All of our losses here on Earth are only temporary…The loss of loved ones, family members, relationships, friendships, careers, positions, titles and roles in life, financial means, materialistic items, health, and even life itself are all temporary losses to the Christian Believer…
But, everything that we will one day “gain” in Heaven will be permanent! No more dying, no more tears, no more grief, no more sadness, no more loneliness, no more disappointments, no more overwhelming challenges, no more issues to resolve, no more doctor appointments, no more physical therapies, no more sicknesses, pain or diseases, and no more death! What we suffer down here on earth is temporary compared to the Heavenly JOYS we will one day receive that will never, never go away.
Pondering this fact is helping me to process and deal with a loss in fellowship that I have with someone who means very much to me. In many ways, I have grieved over this loss for some time now. But, God reminded me today that my loss is only “temporary,” and that one day I will not only have restored fellowship in the grandest style possible, but it will be for all eternity. We may not have peace and fellowship between us right now, but one day we will stroll beside the River of Life hand in hand.
Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves that sixty or seventy years cannot be compared to infinity…Time here on earth, with all of its ups and downs, will one day cease while infinity or eternity is just that; eternal! So, today, you may be dealing with a loss or losses in your own life. And, it goes without saying that such things are challenging, hurtful, and painful at times. But, let your hearts and mind ponder on the glorious news God has in store for his children when HE shall descend from Heaven with a shout and call His children home to everlasting Bliss, Contentment, Joy, and Happiness!
Remember, God Loves You!
