In Search of Nehemiah…

In Search of Nehemiah…

For the Joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10 KJV)

Let me ask you a question…As born-again Christians, do you feel that the “walls” of America are collapsing? In the ancient world, a city without “walls” was a city completely open and vulnerable to its enemies and possible destruction. I believe that America’s “wall of protection” was her stand on the Bible, Godly principles, and God’s Word. From the mid-1700’s, God allowed America to grow as a super-power overcoming some of the world’s greatest political and military powers. But, since 1962, when our nation declared a policy of “Separation of Church and State,” (that could be regarded as “Separation of God and State!”) we have watched our nation’s glorious position among the nations of the world decline. No longer are we considered a military threat to other powerful nations, but as an equal; if not inferior. Nations now taunt us with their possibilities of nuclear attacks and various sects across the world threaten us daily with fears of terrorist attacks. Whether we openly admit it or not, there’s probably not a single American who feels truly safe in a public gathering or mall. At least once or twice during a ball game, shopping spree, concert, or political gathering our minds drift away to wondering if a bomb has been planted somewhere or some lone enemy is hiding in the shadows with a weapon in hand…There was a time, not so long ago, when such fearful thoughts did not enter into our hearts and minds as we, as “Americans,” felt safe from such harm. Now, every stranger we pass on the streets or see along the way we “wonder” who they are and if bad intentions towards us are hidden deep within them. We ask ourselves, “Are the Muslim people now living in our neighborhood actually friendly neighbors or a part of a terrorist cell?” “Is the Mexican family down the street legal or illegal aliens?” “Is the Russian family that just moved in next door spies or truly third-generation Americans?” Face it, we are skeptical; and sadly not without cause. Our “walls” have been damaged; some even destroyed…

God not only protects nations from physical harms, but also from “moral harms” and decay. Look how our nation has plummeted since the 1960’s in regard to morals? One nearly has to ask, “What morals?” Anything goes now in America. If you don’t believe me, just look at yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling regarding same-sex marriages. Who’d ever believe that such a thing would be lawful in America? Something so directly against God’s designed plan for humanity. But, then again we have been killing off babies left and right for over forty years as well. Each day while you and I go about our business thousands of innocent babies are being aborted to the direct wishes of the mother; or mother-to-be. Yet; there are still those who insist that America is still the “greatest nation on Earth.” And, yes, I agree. Thank God for people such as Franklin Graham and his organization Samaritan’s Purse and Joyce Meyer Ministries. People who work tirelessly and endlessly to obey God’s Great Commission. Pastors across our land who still Preach the Word as it is written. Those who still call “sin” “sin” and don’t back down.

Oh, but how we need a “Nehemiah” to help rebuild the wall of protection in our land. How we need a “Nehemiah” to declare, “The Joy of the Lord is Your Strength.” Someone who will build with one hand and hold the Sword of Truth (God’s Word) in the other while others Pray, Pray, and Pray for God’s Hand of Protection and Prosperity to once again be upon our land. But, are we willing to do what “we” need to do in order for God to bring along such a person? Are we willing to return to the “Old Paths” and give up our idols of pleasure, money, success, and self-fulfillment to replace them with, “There shall be no other gods before thee?”

I have been known to go out on a limb here and there, so here I go again…I dont’ believe in legalism, but I do wonder if God was more “pleased” when we regarded His places of Worship as being reverent and ordained (set apart from the world)? Those times when we used to get dressed up to go to the House of God instead of looking “cool” and “worldly?” It almost seems as if today’s generation wants to look so “with it” that it makes you wonder if they are actually “without it?!” (Without the real and true GOD dwelling within.)…Our generation has become so focused on “not” looking “spiritual” that I feel “looking casual and cool” as practically become an idol! And, what is really wrong with using the old King James Version of the Bible instead of the NIV, or NKJV, or other “newer” translations? I mean, the old KJV did “get the job done” for many, many decades? I know my own Baptist Asssociation has done surveys showing an ongoing decline among “professions of faith” and “baptisms.” I have asked myself, “What has changed?” Well, I feel I can actually lend some insight into what I have seen changed over the past four decades… 1. The various versions of the Bible being preached from behind our pulpits. 2. The decline in calling “sin” “sin.” 3. Our at-church appearances…we look as if we have just gotten out of bed, grabbed some wrinkled garment off the floor, and headed off to church, or that we are going to a ballgame or the beach. I mean God is a King; the King of the entire Universe. How would you dress if you were going to see a King here on Earth? Shorts, T-shirt, Khalis? Most likely, NOT. Well, God is a KING! Maybe, we should realize that and start projecting within our minds that we are going to Worship the KING of KINGS! 4. Music…Honestly, some churches actually hand out ear-plugs because the music is so loud! It reminds me of when Elijah told the “false prophets” to “yell louder” because their god could NOT hear them! Our God doesn’t need boom boxes to hear a Joyful noise from the heart…But, today’s churches sure do! And, chanting…where did we get this “chanting” stuff from? Recently, I attended a church where there was a “bridge” in the song that probably said, “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” twenty times in a row! I started to wonder if they thought Jesus was deaf? I mean Peter only yelled out one time, “Lord, save me.” And, Jesus immediately reached out His hand to save him! 5. Competition…Churches, Sunday school classes, Preachers, Pastors, and Youth Programs have ALL become very competative…Who has the most in attendance?…Which group is offering the “most” to do or most activities offered to entertain us? Which class has the best food on Sunday mornings? It seems that we no longer measure “answered prayers” or “growing in Faith” as indicators of God’s presence in a matter. Now, we only want “human” results…Does it make us “feel good about ourselves?!” Or, “Does it make us look good to others?” 6. A church’s Spiritual growth versus a church’s production? What do pastors really want these days? To baptize every Sunday morning to make them feel as if “they” are doing their job? Or, to discern if the people are actually growing spiritually and being feed the full truth of God’s Word; meeting the “needs” of the congregation? I once heard a very discerning, godly, Pastor, who is now deceased, say, “If a church (local assembly) is where it should be God will give the increase according to His timely plan and purpose; not ours.” Look at it this way, what family on Earth gives “birth” to a child every week? I feel this is one reason some churches may have 3,000 on roll and only 900 in attendance? Jesus said, “Those who remain are with us.” Too many times I see people “confessing” they have been “born-again” only to see them “never” get faithful in God. But, “numbers” make us look good; right? Sadly, too many churches have bought into playing the “numbers” game…

God said there will always be a remnant that will remain faithful and true…Churches across America have become “big” business. And, sadly with the collapse of our nation’s economy many of these mega churches are feeling the effects. Yet; many of your smaller, paid-for, volunteer churches are slowly but steadily marching onward…I have witnessed first hand where smaller congregations, NOT receiving “pay” for every task, office, or service, get as much accomplished as a much larger, paid-staff church…Perhaps, not on the same grand scale, but the “quality,” to me, often outweighs the “quantity!” Which one do you feel actually reflects the “heart of the matter?” Perhaps, both, if everything is done moderately through prayer and petitions making our requests known unto God!

So, my prayer today is, “God, please search out a Nehemiah in our day and time to come on the scene of history to help the “remnant” of your church in America remain strong, thrive, and prosper once more in Your will…May our eyes be turned to you and towards your heart…In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Who is On the Lord’s Side…

Who is on the Lord’s Side?

If My People…II Chronicles 7:14

Well, depending upon your belief system; or lack thereof, today’s Supreme Court decision in America is either one of victory or defeat. Since I am a “Christian Believer and Follower” in God, through Christ Jesus, and firmly believe that HE made a woman for a man and a man for a woman, it is a sad day of defeat; indeed. But, our God will NEVER be defeated…For HE knows all…The Bible clearly teaches that there will come a day when “good is called evil, and evil is called good” (Isaiah 5:20). We have reached such a day. To me, Christians should take to the streets in droves in protest of today’s ruling. Yet, most of us will sit in silence only shaking our heads in disgust as another immoral decision plummets our nation further and further into idolatry and sin.

I really don’t understand why the news media or certain governmental personnel use the phrase, “Pray for the victims,” when tragedy strikes within our nation…Sure, it sounds nice, well-meaning, caring, and sympathetic, but who are they praying to? The God of the Bible; Creator God?? If they believe in Creator God, then why do they NOT believe in HIS scheme of creation; a man and a woman? Why don’t they believe in HIS commandments? Why don’t they believe in His standards, values, and teachings for life and living? Why don’t they believe in the Bible; His Word? Why are they so eager to celebrate the things that go AGAINST God and God’s way and make light and poke fun of those things HE teaches and endorses? Because, simply put, “they are blinded to the truth.” And, Jesus said of himself, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6).

Actually, it is a very, very sad day. The homosexual community sees “followers of Biblical teachings” as “haters, hypocrites, and bashers.” God sees us as trying our best to “warn” those living in “sin” to come out, repent, and accept God’s design for His creation. If God had gotten it wrong in the Garden of Eden he could have made two men and two women and told them to “choose” and “decide” which one they wanted to co-habitat with…And, He would have made both sexes capable of bearing children to procreate the world; His world…But, HE did it RIGHT! Yet, through man’s own self-wickedness he has turned God’s way into a lie. It was not God’s intention for a man to be with a man nor a woman to be with a woman in a sexual, sensual manner. People, honestly, do you realize that the President of the United States of America called a gay pro basketball player to congratulate him on where he puts his personal anatomy? That is what this show-down is ALL about…Where you decide to put your personal anatomy! Do you put it where God created it to be put, or do you choose to put it where GOD designated body waste to exit? Think about it. God created a man’s seed to be implanted into a woman’s body in order for it to bring forth life…Yet, there are those who wish to plant their human seed in the place of dung and waste; where NO life can ever originate or grow healthy. Ask yourself this question…Who is God’s enemy? The answer is Satan. Satan does NOT want life as God created and intended it to be…So, its “kuddos to Satan” each time a man places his seed in the place of dung and waste and not life! The same with abortion…Every baby aborted is another “kuddo to Satan” for interrupting God’s natural flow of life and means of procreation. Don’t kid yourself, this is NOT just a choice of life-style, it is a choice of Idolatry against God Almighty; and God will NOT sit silent on these matters forever…

What homosexuals, and those like our president who supports such life-styles, don’t realize is that when a “human being” decides that their way is better than God’s way it is Idolatry…They are saying, “Well, God, you aren’t as smart as you think you are. We have found a better way. Sure, you made a woman for a man, but we like it this way better.” Think about it. When Satan tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, he tempted her with, “My way is better than God’s way.” And, to this day every time a person tries his or her own way because they feel it is better than God’s way, he or she is demoting God and exalting self…Sound familiar? Sure, it does…What did Satan say he would do? Seven times he said that he would “exalt” himself above God…(Isaiah 14). Anytime “something” or “someone” is exalted above God, it is Idolatry…The nation of Israel was eventually marched off into captivity because of Idolatry! Even God’s first commandment states, “Thou shall have NO others gods before me.” Idolatry is God’s number one in God’s top ten!

Friend, today is a sad day in America. A sad day indeed. Some may argue or debate that “sin” is “sin” and that “all” sin is equal. That’s true..All “sin” is transgression against a Holy God; and yes, we have all sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23). But, there are sins that hold greater consequences. And, according to the Book of Romans, chapter one, our God will not hold the sin of homosexuality or those who commit it guiltless…”Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature (Satan and mankind) more than the Creator (God). For this cause GOD gave them up unto vile affections; for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And, likewise also the man, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain GOD in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient” (Romans 1:25-28).

God, have mercy on America as she falls further and further into Idolatry and sin. In thy wrath, O LORD, remember Mercy. Amen.

Rejoice My Children Rejoice!

Rejoice My Children Rejoice!

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4

The Hebrew word, “simcha,” means to have “Joy in the most full sense.” In other words, “Be Happy!” In the book of Philippians, we find the Apostle Paul writing to the church at Philippi to, “Be Happy in the Lord!” The thing is that Paul wasn’t telling the church to “be happy” as he was sitting out somewhere on the beach with bright rays of sun shining down on his face with a cool glass of grape juice in his hand…He was telling them to, “be happy,” as he, himself, was sitting in a cold, dark, lonely prison cell facing death. Sure, it’s easy to tell someone to be happy when all around you is at peace and happiness, but can you tell someone to be happy when your cup is running over with stress! That’s exactly what Paul did.

The past few days, actually the past four years, have been stressful at times for my husband and me as we take care of his mother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Two years ago, we had to admit her into a fulltime nursing home to help with her care. But, even that doesn’t completely erase our concerns, cares, and obligations to her. I continue to do her laundry at least two to three times per week. And, it is very sad watching her decline as she goes from one stage to another. This past week she decided that she doesn’t need to wear her glasses, so she hid them in a bundle of clothes. After searching for them for several days I finally found them wrapped up in a pair of pajamas. When I took them to her, she became quite defensive and insisted that she has never worn glasses her entire life and I could do with them whatever I wished but she would not wear them. So, naturally, not wanting to upset her any further, I brought them home. Since then, her behavior has continued to decline. Some days it nearly seems that it is too much to bear…So, today my husband called me from a funeral he was attending and when I answered the telephone he started singing an old Gospel song, “Rejoice My Children Rejoice!” Truthfully, I didn’t know if I wanted to laugh at his attempt to “cheer” me up, or scream!

But, he was right…The Bible does tell us to, “Rejoice in the Lord.” So, I took a deep breath and said, “God, I really need your strength to continue with all of these issues involving my mother-in-law. And, after a few deep breaths, I could feel my tension leaving being replaced with JOY! I have so much to rejoice about…And, when life is taking a hit at you, we sometimes need to remember to REJOICE just like the Apostle Paul did while incarcerated in prison…

Today, you may be in need of JOY…So, as my husband reminded me today, “Rejoice My Children Rejoice for our names are recorded above…Be glad, exceedingly glad for Heaven is ours today.” Yes, my friend we have a lot to Rejoice about!

A Grateful Heart…

A Grateful Heart…

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV)

One definition for the word, Grateful, is to possess a thankful disposition toward one for whom favor has been shown. Well, favor has certainly been shown towards mankind by our Creator God. Therefore, it would stand to reason that we, as recipients, should possess a heart of “Gratefulness.” However, sadly, I feel that too many “Believers,” followers of Christ Jesus, fail to possess and maintain a heart of committed “Gratefulness.” I realize that it’s not always easy to be “thankful” for everything within our lives, especially when mixed with painful, harmful, and hurtful things…But, God teaches us to “Give Thanks in All Things for this is God’s Will in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Possessing and maintaining a “Grateful” heart requires Faith in believing that God is working all things (both good and bad) for the “good” of those who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28). Not that all things are “good,” but that God, in his time, will work all things for the “good” of His purpose and plan for our lives. That’s not always easy to accept; especially when tragedy strikes. But, I have seen people who have been able to climb above their circumstances to Praise God in the midst of all kinds of major trials, defeat, persecutions, and pain…A heart of “gratefulness.” Too many times a lack of “gratefulness” leads to feelings of depression and victimization. Without a grateful heart a person can start feeling way too sorry for themselves and the circumstances they may be facing at the time. Only a “grateful” heart can bring one’s mind out of self-centeredness; even in the midst of turmoil. Possessing a “grateful” heart is like showers of rain on a desert land…It brings refreshing waters into our lives. If we really want to walk in Joy and Peace with God we must learn to protect and guard our hearts against all kinds of wrongful deeds, bitterness, hate, malice, and unforgivness. One of the best weapons or tools for Spiritual warfare against such attacks is to be “Grateful” unto God for the amazing favor He has shown in His Love for us through His Son, Jesus Christ…Today, I encourage you to seek out a “grateful” heart…Realizing that without God none of us would have one single thing in this life; or even life itself…I am grateful for a grateful heart towards my loving Savior. Amen.

Not of Works, Less Any Man Should Boast…

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Romans 4:15)

I want to suggest that you go back and read the first six words of the above scripture, “But to him that worketh NOT…” Whew! What a relief…Salvation does not and cannot come through or by man’s “works.” We cannot work our way into Heaven or into God’s good Graces. It is only through belief and faith that we are “justified,” made right, with God. Sadly, there are so many religions that “require” people to do this or to do that in order to receive salvation; or eternal life with God. Then, even on top of all of their do’s and don’ts a person cannot be assured of his or her salvation before they die…What a dreadful way to live never knowing for certain if you are or are not saved by faith through Jesus Christ…But, thanks be unto God we can know for certain, without a doubt, that our redemption stands sure by simply believing what God says in HIS words known as the BIBLE…And, in the book of Romans, we learn that Salvation is not of works, or at least man’s works, but totally and fully dependent upon God’s works through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith…I am as secured in my salvation through Christ Jesus as if I am already living in glory! I may not be living in glory right this moment, but I have a place prepared and when I do leave this old life I will go directly to that wonderful place; where Christ is. The Apostle Paul said to be “absent from the body is to be present with Christ.” Amen…
Today, you may belong to a particular organization or religion that requires you to perform certain works or tasks in order to receive salvation. My friend, this is simply not true. All we ever need has already been provided to us through the perfect conception, perfect life, and perfect blood of Jesus shed at Calvary and through His triumphant resurrection. If you believe in that Truth, then, my friend, you belong to God through Jesus Christ. I encourage you today to make your preparation sure through the Word of God and not through a man-made religious plan. However, once we receive the finished works of Christ Jesus into our hearts and the sealing of our souls until the day of redemption we will want to work for His kingdom out of pure Joy, Love, Excitement, and Pleasure…For, we know that we are saved; therefore we want to spread and share our Joy with others through kind deeds and acts of kindness and being about our Heavenly Father’s business. Not to be saved, but that we are already Saved! Praise be unto God who took it upon Himself to design Redemption’s plan for all of mankind. Oh, what a Savior is Mine!
