Day 26 Celebrating Immanuel
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent ye, and believe the Gospel (Good News!) Mark 1:15 KJV
Celebrating Immanuel, meaning God is With Us, includes celebrating the Good News of Christ Jesus. Have you ever asked yourself, “What is the Good News?”
It seems like today all that we ever hear is “bad” news. Another day of shootings and murder. Another day of rape and killings. Another day of conflict, bickering, fightings, and war. Another day of unrest and rage among people, lands, and nations. Another day of hearing about someone being diagnosed with a dreaded disease or terminal illness. Another day of congested traffic and pile-ups on our highways and byways. Another day of high prices at both the pumps and grocery stores that takes away more and more money from our already stretched budgets. Another day of this, and another day of that…Oh, how people need to hear Good News!
Yet; we, as Christians, have Good News to Bring! We have Good News to Share! We have Good News of Hope, Salvation, Joy, and Peace….But, the Good News seems to get “buried” underneath all of the bad stuff that seems to take front and center stage of our society. It shouldn’t be like that for the Christian.
We, as Christians, need to show the world that our lives are ruled by a Higher Power than our government and government officials. We need to show the world that our lives are BLESSED in the face of adversities and trials. We need to show the world that we have FAITH in the GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST; our Hope; our Joy; our Salvation; our PEACE!
The world is looking at us to see how we are handling the same things in life as they do…Do they see a difference? Sadly, I fear that they do not. We, as Christians, tend to complain and whine just as much as the lost and dying world. It’s time that we Christians remember WHO is actually in charge and in control of our lives….It’s time that we Christians start living out loud the PEACE and JOY that belongs ONLY to those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior. We have lost ground in this area badly, and we are in bad need or regaining lost ground as well as taking on new ground! We need to come alive in God’s PEACE!
We have the GOOD NEWS of Jesus’ birth, sinless life, death, and victorious Resurrection to share…Our belonging to Jesus means we no longer belong to the world or to the world’s at-odds systems…Our hearts and lives should be ruled and maintained by the PEACE of GOD that passes all understandings. We are in the world, but we are NOT of the world!
I don’t know about you, but I have fallen far too short in this category of my life and I am in bad need of repenting and returning to the God of Peace! I am currently writing lessons for a Bible study that I am going to call, “May the God of Peace Rule Your Hearts and Lives.” I am looking forward to spending time with God in this area. Until then, I feel we all need to let God’s PEACE dwell and rule within our hearts and lives. Amen.
Remember God Loves You!
