Day 16 Celebrating Immanuel
And His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Continuing with Isaiah’s powerful prophetic introduction of Jesus, today we will look at His title, “Everlasting Father.” On tomorrow, I will end our brief study of Jesus’ prophetic introduction found in the Old Testament book of Isaiah by looking closer at His title, Prince of Peace. But, for today, let’s enjoy and hug up closer to our “Everlasting Father.”
Have you ever really thought about it? The first word a child usually says is, “Da Da.” “Da Da.” Coincident? I don’t think so. Human life begins from the seed of man. I believe it is naturally placed within our hearts and mind to recognize and want to know who our earthly father is; the giver of our own life; our provider. It is within us. And, God is our Everlasting Father; giver of life to ALL.
I realize that there are countless numbers of children and adults alike who do not know who their earthly biological giver of life was. As a result, many wonderful, gracious, loving, and caring adoptive and foster dads, grandfathers, uncles, and male mentors have provided the role of “Father” in their lives. We thank God for these men.
Yet; at one point in time there is a biological giver of life, even if it is found in a test tube! Life on earth as we know it begins from the seed of man. What Isaiah is telling us here is that our everlasting God is also our Everlasting Father, our Creator and Provider of Life! No matter if we never know who our earthly donor of life was, we can always know who our Heavenly Father is! He is our “Everlasting Father” who will NEVER, NEVER leave nor forsake us. His LOVE is unconditional, and permanent, and perfect, and Everlasting! There are NO Orphans of God!!! God knows each one of us by name, race, creed, color, right-handed or left-handed, it matters not to Him because we are His children and He is our Everlasting Father.
The “siblings” of Earth have one thing in common, we all have the same Everlasting Father who gave mankind physical life from the very beginning (Genesis 1:26), but who also gave Himself in order to give us spiritual life not only here on planet earth, but eternal life in Heaven.
Our Everlasting Father requires one thing of his children and that is Belief. Belief in God and Belief in His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever BELIEVES in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Our Everlasting Father not only wants a relationship with us while we live here on planet earth, but He delights in the JOY of an eternal relationship with Him in Heaven. And, that eternal relationship can only come through a personal relationship with His Son, Jesus. This is the way and the plan that our Everlasting Father set in order. This is His condition upon us…It is up to us to Believe and to Obey.
Just as we learn to “obey” our earthy dads, we must learn to “obey” our Everlasting Father as well. There are earthy consequences when we disobey our earthly fathers and there will be eternal consequences when we choose to disobey our Everlasting Father.
Today, let’s celebrate Immanuel (being interpreted as God is With Us) as our Everlasting Father…Want you Believe and Obey our one and only Everlasting Father the One who will never leave nor forsake you by coming to Him by Faith through His Son, Jesus? The rewards are eternal and everlasting…Trust Him today..He is the only Father who will never let you down…Give Him your heart. Give Him your life.
“Father God, Our Everlasting Father, there might be one who is reading this blog who has never trusted in you, believed in you, or called upon your Son Jesus Christ to save them from their sins and give them eternal Life in You, through You, and with You. Yet, today, they Believe. They are choosing right now to Believe in You and to call upon your Son Jesus to forgive them of their sins and begin a personal relationship and commitment with our Everlasting Father God through Christ Jesus. We thank you for the breath of life and the gift of life. And, we thank you Everlasting Father for the new spiritual birth of life that you offer to all those who BELIEVE and call upon your name. May each heart be filled with Thy Joy. We thank you for the Gift of Salvation in Jesus Christ. Amen.”
Remember God, our Everlasting Father, Loves You!
(If you prayed a “sinner’s prayer” asking God to come into your heart through Jesus Christ, I encourage you to contact a local church in your area to speak with a Pastor or church leader who can help you get started in your new life as a “Believer.” Welcome to the Family of God; our Everlasting Father. Amen.)
