Day 14 Celebrating Immanuel
And His Name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…. (Isaiah 9:6)
On yesterday, I wrote about Isaiah’s wonderful introduction of Jesus. Isaiah wanted the world to know that one day a futuristic Savior would arrive on the scenes of history and He would be filled with many great and wonderful attributes.
Isaiah described Jesus as being one that would be called, Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…I get excited just reading over the list of descriptors! Amen. One title that Isaiah mentioned is, “Counselor.” Oh, my friend, how sweet are the words from a godly Counselor!
A counselor lends advise that should help and promote our overall well-being. I thank God for those who choose “counseling” as their life’s career and profession. What a wonderful and supportive life-giving role. But, as we all know some advise, especially from humans, is not always as helpful as we would like. No matter how well-trained the counselor or how truly gifted he or she may be, they cannot see deeply inside of a man’s heart and soul…But, ONE Counselor can…Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the GREAT COUNSELOR…Jesus is the ONLY ONE who can see the beginnings from the endings. In other words, Jesus sees the WHOLE PICTURE! He knows our hearts, our minds, and the need of our soul. He knows our deepest thoughts, concerns, hurts, anxieties, and fears; and He knows exactly how, when, where, and why they got started! There is no guess-work with Christ…He sees the covered and the uncovered version of ALL! There are no hidden secrets in His sessions.
Today, what the world needs is a good counseling session with Jesus Christ. An appointment can be made by simply falling on your knees and calling out to Him. His office hours are always opened 24/7 and He is never overbooked or too busy to meet with you. Even though His counseling sessions cost you nothing, they cost Him his life at Calvary. Your sessions have been paid in full by his life’s blood.
Oh, my friend want you come today to the Greatest Counselor of all time, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Even though human-to-human counseling is needful, helpful, and beneficial as it can bring about great changes in a person’s life, what we really need is a Wonderful Counseling session with Jesus who can bring about everlasting changes within our hearts, souls, and mind. Any good counselor worth his or her weight in gold will tell you that he or she can only help so much, but God through Christ Jesus can get to the “heart” of the matter; He is the “real” Counselor…
I firmly believe that twenty-six precious souls, twenty of those being young children, who were gunned down last Friday would still be alive today if one very troubled and hurting young man and his family had sought the life-changing counsel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; the Wonderful Counselor; Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Amen.
Remember, God Loves You!
