Day 12 Celebrating Immanuel – Our Only Hope
“If My People who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive them of their sins and will heal their land…(II Chronicles 7:14)
On this early Saturday morning, December 15, 2012, I thank God in Christ Jesus for His everlasting Love, Salvation, Securities, Promises, and Faithfulness to His people…I thank God for “Immanuel, Our Only Hope.”
Jesus Christ is our Only Hope…There is No Hope found in any other than Jesus Christ.. Jesus came so that we might have Hope and LIFE and have it more abundantly; not only in acquiring personal possessions but in acquiring God’s fullness of Love, Grace, and Mercy.
This morning, I am concerned for my nation and for its people. The Bible clearly teaches that any nation that turns away from God will suffer. A land that is turned away from God will suffer. And, my friend, today, as a nation, we as citizens of the United States of America are seeing so many suffer as the results of our “turning away” from God and turning aside and away from all things that pertain to God…As a result, we are seeing terrible, tragic, and harsh happenings and events sweep through our land; both from natural causes as well as manmade.
Our nation’s constitution declares, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” I feel that our blessed forefathers failed to take into account and consideration those who would one day “pursue” Life, Liberty, and Happiness OUTSIDE of the realms of our Creator, God. That one day people’s individual “pursuits” would lead them to self-wickedness, self-centeredness, self-absorption, selfishness, self-willed, self-mindedness, and sinfulness. We have become a nation that pursues “darkness” rather than “Light.”
Over the past two hundred plus years, our nation has taken the “pursuit” of happiness as being a free-ticket to legalize abortion, drugs and alcohol, take God’s Word out of our public schools and government, and to pursue any type of “living” style that seems right to the individual…We are a nation that now calls “evil” good and “good” evil…The Bible clearly warns what will happen when “evil” is called “good. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20).
Any time you find the word, “Woe” in the Bible it is a direct warning from God of impending judgement unless the individual or nation returns to God’s commands. I fear that our nation is seeing the first “woes” of God’s judgment. Within a few months, we have faced horrible public shootings, killings, natural disasters, and now the loss of twenty innocent children whose only goal on yesterday was to enjoy their day at school and safely return home to their families…But, for twenty innocent lives, that did not happen. Evil visited their school.
God, have mercy upon our lands, our homes, and our families. Return our hearts unto Thee O Lord. Let us put away our evil pursuits to pursue the One and Only Son of God who was born over two thousand years ago in a stable in Bethlehem. Forgive us of our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us. Lead not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Power and the Glory forever and ever…Amen.
Friend, want you join me in praying for our nation and for those who have turned their backs on God? We must seek God to heal our land. We must ask God to put it into the hearts of our leaders HIS WORDS, HIS WISDOM, HIS COMMANDS, and HIS LOVE…Let us pray that we, as a nation, will turn aside from seeking happiness outside of the realms of God…For it is only GOD who holds the Key to all things and all manners of things within life.
Today, I choose our Lord; I choose Life and the pursuit of happiness through my Heavenly Father. Only the Lord can allow our hearts not to be troubled and afraid…Yes, my friend we can celebrate Immanuel, being interpreted God is with Us…If God be for us who can be against us… In closing, let us also remember those whose lives were so tragically taken on yesterday; children and adults alike. Let us remember their families and the days ahead as their families deal with their own personal pain and griefs. Amen…
