Storm? Or, Trial?

Storm? Or, Trial?

Knowing this, that the trying (trial) of your faith worketh patience…Let patience have her perfect (maturing) work, that ye may be perfect (matured) and entire; wanting nothing (fully trusting in God)…(James 1:4 KJV)

There are over two-thousand, two-hundred active storms circling our planet each day.  Storms also blow into and out of our lives: physical, emotional, and spiritual storms.  Storms, no matter their size or destructive forces, have a way of ending; ceasing…calming…They eventually “move” on…Praise the Lord!

But, what about a TRIAL?  Think about it…Some judicial trials end within a few hours while others can take weeks and weeks…Storms tend to leave a path of destruction, but typically in time the destroyed properties can be fixed or restored…If the storms are not too massive in size and nature…But, what about a trial?  In a TRIAL, a person’s life usually changes for the good or bad depending upon the outcome of a particular long-standing trail…

I have come to the conclusion that we, as Christians, sometime refer to ongoing, lengthy, hard-pressing, “unexpected” happenings and events as storms when in fact they are better described as TRIALS…Why?  Because trials last longer, go deeper, and their outcomes often change the heart, soul, mindset, and direction of our lives…

There have been many storms hit my life, as with many of you.  But, I have endured a rather long, ongoing, TRIAL in my life for many years now…It’s constant, daily, steady, continuous, oppressing, depressing, and weighty…Some days I can press onward with more strength than others…(The Joy of the Lord is my strength!)….However,  on some days the long, enduring, steady, and hurtful trial seems as if it is breathing down my neck and pressing me to the ground as if to say, “I’ve won…You’re defeated!”  …On those days, I MUST exercise a greater faith to keep my thoughts and mind from wanting to “do” something to bring about relief; even if the relief isn’t good for me or any other stake-holder involved!!..Those days are tough…On those days, you learn to simply press forward one micro-second at a time…

With “STORMS” there are usually encouraging signs of its ending or disipation…However, there are NO signs when a trial will ever end…You just keep enduring “it” until the day finally comes and the trial is past and over…A moment that we like to refer to as, “Breakthrough!”

I believe trials can be anything from long-term sicknesses, on-going relational problems that seem to never get better no matter what you do, areas in our lives that haunt us day in and day out no matter how many times we have prayed over them, claimed the blood of Christ over them, or rebuked Satan and all of his demons over them to leave us in the name of Jesus!  No matter what we do the next hour, the next day, the next week, the next month, the next year…the “trial” still haunts us…haunting trials…Lord, for YOUR strength we pray to endure haunting trials!

But, I am LEARNING something in my very own, personal, on-going trial…IT IS WORKING  INWARDLY and OUTWARDLY THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT in my life!!!  I am learning that LOVE,JOY, PEACE and PATIENCE (LONGSUFFERING) are fruits I can harvest and enjoy in the midst of my trial…I have learning that GENTLENESS (a calmed-spirit) and GOODNESS (choosing to do good in the face of adversity) are Fruits I can reap even when in distress…I am learning that FAITH (what I cannot see), MEEKNESS (the willingness to be a grateful, life-long, obedient learner),  and TEMPERANCE (maintaining self-control) are Fruits that Honor and exalt my Heavenly Father that I would otherwise not know anything about without “my” trial…

Oh, the far-reaching results of Trials within our lives…They can actually do a body good!  (If we let them produce the Fruit of the Spirit within our lives that God is trying to produce!)

No one likes to be on “trial.”  When we are on “trial,” we are usually examined and questioned about our motives and actions…That’s exactly what God is working out in our lives when we are in “trials.”  GOD is questioning our motives and actions…GOD is stirring up our heart’s plotted soil-of-life to bring forth HIS Fruit…So, that HE will be glorified and honored…Oh, the trials of life…

As the Apostle Paul teaches, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit…” What Spirit?  The Fruit of the Spirit as it is being worked inwardly and outwardly in our lives…Ah, but let “patience” have her perfect works…AMEN!!

Press on weary pilgrim; press on…For in doing so ye shall reap Fruit unto your souls…”That the TRIAL of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ!” (IPeter 1:7 KJV)…

Remember, God Does Love You!  (Even in the midst of the Trial….)

Not Made of Things Seen…

Not Made of Things Which Do Appear…

Through Faith we understand (have knowledge of) that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen (concrete) were NOT made of things which do appear (seen or manifested).  (Hebrews 11:3 KJV)

The “seen” made by that which cannot be seen!”

How truly sad and pitiful!  A couple of days ago, I actually took the time to sit down and watch an interview being conducted on a morning TV show between the female anchor  and a professing “scientific” atheist.  What a confusing interview!  The female anchor seemed almost frustrated as she tried to ask intelligent questions, and the professing “atheist” seemed “foolish” trying to answer each question with one consistent answer:  Science…According to him, the answer to all questions seen and unseen is the study of Science

Now, most of us know that Science in itself is the study of things which can be seen, touched, measured, tasted, smelled or heard…Things that can be associated to the logical avenues of the five human senses: Eyes, Ears, Nose, Mouth, Touch…So, this rather very enthusiastic, yet foolish, scientist boasted that “religion” or belief in religion hurts the study of science and that “religion” goes against all grains of the human mind that should be well grounded in the vibrant study of Science!  Poppycot!

According to him, where would we all be without the domain of Science and the study thereof??…According to him, our world as we know it would not exist without the great men and women of science who “prove” things not in “theory” but in actuality….According to “him,” the world, universe, and galaxies beyond are millions and billions years old…Sad and strange little man to say the least!  But, one who is no doubt a threat and enemy to the furtherance of “Faith,” and to the workings of an UNSEEN, UNMEASUREABLE GOD!

Now, who am I to argue how old our world, universe, and galaxies are? They are as old or as young as God has ordained them into being or into existence…Billions? Possibly…Thousands? Possibly…To me, that’s not the question or statement….That’s just the tip of the iceberg…The question is, “How old is God?”  Answer:  No one knows…And, no one ever will know until God himself reveals it to HIS creation!

I would LOVE to debate this man on the subject of Darwinism verses Divine Creation by God…Even though he would never admit to it, I would WIN hands down!! Why?  Because everything I need to know about creation is plainly printed in my Bible…And, by faith, I accept it 100%.

And, life in itself can all be easily wrapped up in one glorious chapter found in the Bible….Hebrews, chapter 11…”For he who cometh to God must first believe that He is!!!!”  Oh, poor little scientist trying so hard to  make sense of a world that can only be made sense of by believing in God!

I am a retired public school teacher.  I loved both studying and teaching  Science…And, I will NEVER forget my 9th grade science teacher who explained it plain and simple that day in Lab….He stated, “Science is the study of things man can see, hold, and measure…Therefore science is NOT the study of God because no man can see, hold, or measure God!  But, without God there would be NOTHING to see, hold, or measure!”   LOVED IT THEN….LOVE IT NOW!!!

The absolute truth is that the study of Science helps me to recognize, know better,  understand, and fully accept by Faith the AWESOMENESS and GLORY of GOD!!!  I love that mankind tries and tries to “fix” our own problems, explores the vastness of the galaxies, researches the intricate workings of the human body only to find that it completely escapes our cognitive and physical abilities and capabilites….ALL of it just shows me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, how GREAT, ALMIGHTY, and AMAZING GOD truly IS!!!  Thank you science and scientists for PROVING how BIG GOD really IS!  Yet; even in that we only see in part!!!!  Oh, the supremacy of God!

Today, want you take the time to look up into the skies…watch the formation of clouds, watch the birds fly, listen to the sounds of rushing waters, walk along the beach, observe the ant in its goings, count the leaves on a tree, count the number of fingers and toes that you have and how they so equip the human body….Why?  Because ALL of it was made by that which cannot be seen, touched, or measured….Who?  GOD!!! “So that things which are seen were NOT made of things which do appear…”   “In the beginning GOD Created!”  Amen!  Amen!  Amen!  Ain’t God GOOD!!  So, go ahead and love science…but love and honor the CREATOR of ALL more!

Remember, God Loves You…  (Even the unbelieving scientist…Let’s all say a prayer right now for this man to come to know God through faith in His son Christ Jesus…Then, the study of science will take on a brand new exciting meaning for him as well! )

Digging Deeper…With God…

Digging Deeper…With God…

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing (of the heart), whether it be good, or whether it be evil…Ecclesiastes 12:14 KJV

Examine yourselves…We live in a technology-savy world and global society that shares just about every detail of our lives…Facebook and Twitter ushered in the abilities to share with the world our every move from: “Eating a bag of M&M’s,” to “Standing in line at Starbucks.”  And, we all love it!!

Who’d ever believe that “common” folk would one day be as royal celebrities having followers tracking our every move!  Who’d ever believe that I could sit in the comfort of my dining room and blog my feelings, inspirations, and experiences of life in hopes of encouraging and helping others!  Tis the twenty-first century my friend!

Yet; the Bible is for ALL centuries, past, present, and future…For God is the same yesterday, today, and forever…And, when it comes down to it the only person that we have any control is our own personal self!  Therefore, it is a wise practice to “examine” ourselves…How?  The problem with some self-examination is that too many people examine themselves in comparison to the wrong things or to the wrong people…God is stating for us to “examine” ourselves in comparison to the Bible…What saith the Lord??? God’s Holy Word…How do we measure when compared to its teachings? Only then will we have the right and correct measuring instrument! Ouch!  “Oh, me!”…as the old-timers used to say!

Sadly, many people measure themselves to a particular church, denomination, group, or societal standard…God measures the heart…MOTIVE!!!  With God there are no hidden motives…WE all fall short of His glory!  Pure motive is the result of a pure heart before God; no hidden agenda…Just the “will” to see, know, experience, and have God’s will in the matter. Accepting God’s will and way over that of our own…Not forcing our own thoughts and perspectives but trusting that God will do the changing…if changing needs to be done!  At times, it takes long-suffering and patience to let go and let God…But, in the end…it is so worth it! Hallelujah!

So, what are we to do? Answer:  Humble ourselves before God and let God be the judge of our heart and actions. Submit ourselves to God’s ordnances and let Him work those things out in our lives that are simply too big for us to handle….What a relief!

TRUTH:  We all face problems, issues, complexities, adversities, conflicts, pains and hurts…We live in a post-Garden of Eden world…Ahh…to know what it must have been like before the fall of mankind…But, don’t fret…One day, for those of us who are believers and born-again in Christ Jesus, we will know what it is like to live in a perfect world interacting with a perfect God face to face…Amen!

But, until then…we press on weary pilgrim…press on…And, not just pressing on in agony, but learning to press on in LOVE, JOY, and PEACE….Learning to enjoy and live in the Fruit of the Spirit…LOVE< JOY< PEACE….Ahh…It can be done…But, it takes committment, trust, determination, dedication, and FAITH that God is working all things according to His plan and purpose (Romans 8:28).  Digging Deeper…With God!

So, today…dig deeper; keep DIGGING DEEPER…With God ALL things are possible!!!!  What you and I cannot do…God can do!! Amen

Remember, God Loves You.

Jesus…There’s Just Somthing About that Name…

Jesus…There’s Just Something About that Name…

And, at the name of Jesus Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.

When Jesus is in the “house,” the world and everything within it changes…Jesus cannot be around without “change.”  And, change is exactly what He brought with Him from Glory when He came to live on planet Earth over two thousand years ago…Jesus, There’s Just Something About that Name…Name Above All Names…

Jesus can turn an old “sinner’s” unbelieving, uncaring, cold and unforgiving heart into a  warm, believing heart filled with the Righteousness of Christ; caring and loving.  Jesus can bring sunshine into a person’s life where it has been filled with darkness and despair for decades.  Jesus can turn a devastating set of circumstances into one of the most victorious experiences in life…Jesus can heal the broken-hearted and bind the wounds of the sick….How?  Because Jesus is God manifested in the flesh; creator of All things seen and unseen…(Wonderful; Counselor; Mighty God is He….(John 1:14)

At the name of Jesus, soldiers stop to rest, doctors stop to be awed and amazed, lawyers stop to agree, and nations stop to honor.  Oh, there’s just something about that name.

You may need to name the name of Jesus above ALL names today.  You may need to take the time to stop, bow, and pray unto the King of Kings and Lord of Lords who daily loads us up with His glorious benefits…Oh, today Jesus is above ALL…Won’t you Praise Him Today!!!!  There’s just something about that name…Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!

Remember, God Loves You!

The Importance of Weaknesses!

The Importance of Weaknesses!

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure… (II Corinthians 12:7)

Reflection:  Before I get into today’s blog, I first want to Praise my Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus for His healing touch and abundant mercies and grace in my life. Today, August 17, 2012 is the 2nd anniversary of my vertebral artery dissection and bleed into the back of the brain. Through God’s marvelous touch along with a great group of neurosurgeons at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, I am still alive and able to perform many of the same functions as before the bleed. Even though it resulted in my retiring five years earlier than planned, I have found new joy and new direction in my life.  Thank you Amazing Heavenly Father for your blessings on me…Now, for today’s inspirational blog…

Weaknesses:  We all have them.  The important thing is to arrive at a place within our lives where we can appreciate them and know that they are actually there for our own benefit.  Actually, each person’s individual weaknesses are custom-designed by God to fit into our lives for His purpose.  When we recognize and fully accept this Biblical truth, we can not only understand our own weaknesses, but we can be more understanding, tolerable, caring, and forgiving of the weaknesses within others; including our own family members, friends, and peers.

Have you ever pondered what you would be like without your weaknesses?  How self-sufficient you would become?  How self-absorbed you would become?  Because fallen man can become so taken with himself and impressed at times with his or her own abilities, God has fashioned weaknesses perfectly designed to counter-act the prideful heart and the diverse imaginations of man.  The result…The need for us to WORSHIP that which is Perfect; All-Knowing; Without Fault or Failure; Truth; Honesty; Superior Being; Righteous and Holy!!  And, the ONLY “Being” that exists who encompasses all of these “perfect” qualities and so many more is GOD ALMIGHTY HIMSELF!!!!!!  Thus, the need and act of Worship!!!  Hallelujah!  Glorious Worship of a Glorious God!  One without blemish, fault, failure, or weaknesses…Amen…My God is an AWESOME GOD!

How do I know this?  Because I am trapped inside of an earthly body filled with imperfections, failures, and weaknesses.  Oh, how I am in need of a Savior…And, my God provided my redemption in the person of Jesus Christ; the incarnated God. (John 1:14).

Today, I, like the Apostle Paul, can rejoice in my infirmities and weaknesses for in my weakness HE (God) is made strong…Have you thanked God today for your weaknesses?  Have you admitted to, examined, and confessed your weaknesses?  Until you do, you will never fully recognize nor appreciate the true source and full sense of Godly worship…I serve a Greater God than All my weaknesses and the weaknesses of ALL mankind…I worship The Almighty God; Counselor; Wonderful is He…King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  Oh, how blessed we are to know and be aware of our own weaknesses….

Remember, Our Perfect God Loves You!

Love for the Sinner; Not the Sin…

Love for the Sinner; Not the Sin…

For God gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

There is a vast controversy in today’s global world between having God’s forgiving and compassionate love for a Sinner (the person) while possessing and maintaining an intense intolerance for sin (wrongful acts, alternative life styles, and evil mannerisms opposite or opposed to the teachings of the Holy Bible).

God did not send His Son to die for Sin…How do I know?  Because today sin still abides and thrives in the world, and it is still sending lost sinners (unbelievers or followers in Jesus Christ) under its rule and curse to a real burning place called Hell. (Revelation 20:12-15) God sent His Son to pay the ultimate sacrificial price for sin with His own life.  And, for those of us who accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior there is redemption unto our souls.  Amen…We are no longer under the rule and curse of sin.  We are “bornagain” and our final abode and resting place will be with Christ in Glory (Heaven). (Rev. 21:7 & Rev. 22:7).

For those of us who are truly born-again, washed in the cleansing Blood of Jesus Christ, we hurt for those who still dwell in darkness and sin.  We know that their spiritual eyes have not yet been opened to sin and sin’s nature.  Therefore, it is very difficult to conduct any type of engaging, transforming conversation without the Power of the Holy Spirit working in the life of the unbeliever leading him or her to the Lord…Without God’s Power upon the matter, all of our own talk, efforts, and persuasions are in vain…A person cannot come unto the Lord except by the Power of God; the Holy Spirit…(John 17:24-26)

This is why it is nearly impossible for the news media or any other unbelieving source to rightfully discuss, or conduct a conversation, or report on things pertaining to God, the Lord, the believer, sin, and the ultimate penalty for sin.  Until a “sinner’s” eyes are opened they simply cannot see nor understand the teachings, truths, and meanings of God’s word…(Hebrew 10:25)…

This is also one reason why some denominations are in error when they “try” to “train” God’s ways to a lost person before conversion (the act of accepting Christ Jesus into their hearts and life)…Salvation must first come before a person can comprehend and understand the ways of God.  Then, and only then, can God, through the Power of the Holy Spirit “cleanse” a person’s ways.  Sadly, I have seen some churches, some preachers, and even other believers “try” to “clean-up” a man or woman before conversion by enforcing strict rules and rituals only to have that person return to his or her own ways, behaviors, and former mannerisms…True, we all fall down, but the Bible says that a “righteous” man (one born-again through Jesus Christ) can fall down seven times seven and will be picked back up by the Lord himself and returned to God’s teachings and God’s ways….”Not by works less any man should boast.”

So, what does it mean to have “Love” for the sinner and Not the sin?  Simple.  God loves people…not their sinful ways!   “For All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.” (Romans 10).  But, for those who “choose” to neglect the ways of the Lord and the free-gift of Salvation not only “fall short of His Glory,” but will miss his plan of redemption all together…How truly sad that a person will choose his or her own life style filled with deceits and untruths rather than accept the true, pure, and unadulterated Love of God…God doesn’t ask nor does He need our perfections, because He is our Perfection!  But, he does require our Life; one dedicated unto Him and His leading and teachings; not those of our own choosing.

When the Bible says that “lying” is a sin…It is a sin; one that has to be confessed, repented of, and turned away from.  When the Bible says that fornication and adultery are sins…They are sins that must be confessed, repented of, and turned away from.  When the Bible says that undue anger is a sin…It is a sin;one that has to be confessed, repented of, and turned away from.  When the Bible says that it is wrong and a sin for a man to lust after another man or a woman to lust after another woman working that which is unseemly (Romans chapter one)…It is sin; one that has to be confessed, repented of, and turned away from.

When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and the Holy Spirit takes up residency in their life, they will turn from and walk away from previous desired sins and lifestyles; even if they fall back into them for a short span.  I know this to be true.  My husband was saved at the age of sixteen.  However, around the age of twenty-two he “chose” to start running around with a group of men who drank, smoke, and gambled much of their earnings over the weekends.  His behavior greatly grieved his mother and father who were dedicated Christians.  After several years of prayers by both his parents and eventually me, as his wife,  my husband, at the age of twenty-seven, repented from drinking alcohol and beer and returned to his church-raisings.  At that time, we both loss several close friends and acquaintances.  A few short years later, after he accepted the “call” into the ministry to Preach God’s Word and repented from smoking cigarettes as well, we loss even more close friends and acquaintances.  The former social gatherings that we once had been invited suddenly ceased…Our lives had taken on new meaning and direction; and our circle of friends and acquaintances changed because of it (Behold, old (or former) things are passed away and behold all things are become new. II Cor. 5:17).

Obedience and application are the absolute Key to fully understanding and living God’s Word out loud…There comes a time in every man’s life when he or she will have to make the switch or change, or they will face the consequences; even the reality of an eternal consequence without God or God’s Grace… Yes; God Loves the Sinner…But NOT the sin.

Today, you may be struggling with a lifestyle that does NOT line up with God’s word…There may be things that you are doing that you know are unpleasing to God…If so, you are endangered of judgment, or as an unbeliever an eternal separation from God and God’s Mercy and Grace.  While it is yet day and there is breath in your soul and body, confess your sin(s), repent, and turn away from your sins and Call upon the name of the Heavenly Father to save you and to restore your life back unto Him.  If you are unsure or confused over certain issues and there is no one to help you in this process, I encourage you to call a Bible-believing church in your area to seek out pastoral counseling…But, always remember, God is a “prayer” (talking to God) away…

Remember, God Loves You!

The Powerful Meaning of “Though”

The Powerful Meaning of “Though”

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal…(I Corinthians 13:1 K JV)

I fear that way too many times as students of the Bible, the Word of God, we often overlook and sidestep the more significant placement and meanings of certain words.  One such word is the term, “Though.”  The word,  “though” is typically used as a conjunction connecting two thoughts that often have either a conditional purpose or a prerequisite application.. “Though” I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and “Though” I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have NOT charity, I am Nothing. (I Corinthians 13:2).

It seems that for the most part we would rather focus upon the positive part of a concept or truth without looking at the “condition” placed upon that particular concept or truth.  In I Corinthians 13:1-13, the conditional overlying theme of Charity (God’s Pure Love) is most significant…As Christians, it is the condition of godly love, godly character, and godly charity that motivates, leads, guides, and directs our works, deeds, ways, and acts of kindness…Without “Charity” (God’s pure love and selfless motive), we become as tinkling cymbals boasting of our many good works “THOUGH” our own efforts, deceitful hearts, ill-gained motives, and self-centered minds.  When true “charity” is not our motives…then our motives are usually wrong!

Charity is kind, does not seek its own, not easily provoked, not envious, boasts not of itself, and long-suffering…Sadly, that doesn’t describe the “motives” behind many of our “good” deeds and acts of kindness!  I am afraid that we all live in a society where it is all about , me, me, and what about me?  Like so many others, I, too, have to be rescued from the “me, me, and what about me” mentality!  It’s not something that we can correct one day and believe it will be corrected for life!  We must “die” to self on a daily basis!

In other words, it is God who sees our hearts and knows our motives for every single thing we do or say…God sees how we conduct and control ourselves from within; not just from without…God already knows the answers to questions such as:  Do we do our alms for others to see us?  Or, do we hide ourselves that God made be uplifted and glorified in ALL that we say or do?  Sadly, I fear that we ALL fall short in the essential realm of Christian virtue, value, and truth with pure motives (known as Charity!) as we go about conducting ourselves with less than “perfect” motives for what we say and do for and unto others…Even though we say that we are doing “it” in the name of Jesus…God, already sees and knows the heart. .

If we truly want to examine “ourselves” and see what we are missing in our Christian walk we need NOT to look any farther than the book of I Corinthians chapter thirteen.  Three nights ago, I picked up my Bible and read chapter 13 thirteen times in a row.  Each time that I reread the chapter it “shouted” out to me things that were missing in my Christian service…It says that I can speak prophecies, understand all knowledge, possess faith to move mountains, give my goods away to the poor, or give my body to be sacrificed…THOUGH, if I don’t have CHARITY (LOVE…God’s Love), I am NOTHING…

Did you see that?  All of my “good” works manifested in the flesh are nothing without the true inward motive of truly uplifting Christ Jesus for the building of the kingdom of God…

On tomorrow, I’ll look at how true, pure “charity” lives, thinks, and responds to all types of situations, people, and circumstances within our lives…

And, now abides faith, hope, and charity…these three, but the greatest of these is charity.  Tomorrow, we will look at how “charity” should be naturally expressed and exposed in our lives…Amen.  Have a blessed day…

Until then, remember, God Loves You!
