…The First Day

…The First Day…

Ye know that after two days is the Feast of the Passover, and the Son of Man is betrayed to be crucified (Matthew 26:2)

Whether or not you hold to the exact day of the week Jesus Christ was crucified (many scholars differ), we know, according to the Scriptures, that he was definitely crucified, buried, and arose from the grave on The First Day of the week! (Mark 16:2).   From his immaculate conception and sinless life to his death on the Cross at Mount Calvary, Jesus Christ fulfilled all of the Old Testament prophecies and Biblical criteria for being the Messiah.  Yet; his painful crucifixion and death on the Cross was NOT the “end” of Christianity (for believers and followers of Jesus Christ)…IT was the catalyst and the beginning!

“HE IS ALIVE….HE IS RISEN JUST LIKE HE SAID!”  (Matthew 28:6)  As it was in Jewish custom, a person had to be dead for three days to be declared “legally” dead!  This was one reason that Jesus waited until Lazarus had been dead for four days before He brought him back to life (John 11:17)…He wanted the Jews to see that death (legal death) had no power over Him!   We also know that Jesus himself stated, “For as Jonah was THREE DAYS and THREE NIGHTS in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.’” (Matthew 12:38-40).  Then, as Scriptures state, “On The First Day, early in the morning, they came to the tomb and found Him alive!

I simply believe as Jesus stated, “….three days and three night in the heart of the earth…”  And, I also believe as the four Gospels teach, “That on the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre…Yet; two angels spoke unto them saying, “Be not afraid….Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but He is risen!”  (Mark 16 and Luke 24).

Because Jesus Christ is ALIVE, Christianity thrives and marches onward today in the year 2012!  It is because of the First Day of the week the stone was rolled away that  I can face today in Jesus Christ as well as all of my tomorrows! And, one glorious day Jesus Christ will return again to planet earth to set up His earthly Kingdom!  And, I believe just as the first event happened (his birth, sinless life, death and Resurrection); so shall the second event happen! (His future return!)  As believers, we possess a glorious Hope in Christ Jesus!

So, whether you agree or disagree that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday evening, Thursday evening, or early on Friday….As Christians, we can ALL agree that He was definitely crucified and Arose on the first day of the week, Sunday!!!   (Author’s note:  I do believe that Christ was in the center part of the earth for three days and three nights just as He said he would be… So, you do the math!)

Today, believers all over the globe are starting to make final preparations and  plans for this coming Easter  Sunday; a time set apart to reflect upon and  “Celebrate,” in both private and cooperate worship, our Savior’s triumphant resurrection over death, hell, and the grave…Amen and Amen

However, don’t forget….as believers we don’t have to wait until this coming Sunday morning to “celebrate”…We can celebrate everyday… For each and every day to the believer is  The First Day….Why?  Because as a Christian  every day is Easter Sunday morning within our hearts!  “You ask me how I know He Lives…He Lives Within My Heart…”Amen…

Happy Easter!  I wish you all a blessed day in the Lord; our Lord…Our very much risen and alive forevermore Lord!

Remember, God Loves You!
