Wait…

Wait…

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14

I believe one of the hardest and most disliked things in the world to do is to WAIT!!  I know I don’t like to wait around for things, and I live in a society that doesn’t like to wait either.

How do I know about society’s dislike for waiting?  Well, for one thing, I live close to a very busy intersection and practically every day, sometimes two and three times in a day, I hear sirens after sirens where someone has run the traffic light to get to where they are going two minutes sooner.  Unfortunately, due to their “impatience,” several do not make it to their destinations at all because they are either seriously injured or fatally wounded.  A society of “impatience.”

Much like a person who can be seriously injured or fatally wounded when they do not heed the warnings of a traffic signal to slow down and stop (wait), we can also seriously damage our lives when we do not “Wait for the Lord” in a particular matter.  I know…Like some of you, I have done it far too many times in my own life.

How many decisions and choices would we like to go back and redo or undo because we simply did not “WAIT” for God’s answer to be confirmed within our lives??  But, let’s not be too hard on ourselves, some decision and choices are hard to discern…Sometimes, it seems that there is no clear direction or path to take.  During those times, we have to move forward in Faith that God’s unseen Hand is leading and guiding us and no matter the outcome He will work all things out according to His purpose and plan (Romans 8:28).

But, there are choices and decisions that are clearly outlined in Scriptures.  Certain decisions and choices bring about negative and painful consequences much like jumping from a building and plummeting to the ground.  These are Laws of Nature…But, there are also Spiritual Laws of God.

The Bible clearly teaches in the book of Proverbs, “What man can take fire into his hands and not be burned.”  This “Spiritual” and “physical” proverbial law can be applied to so many things within our lives…Most of them are outlined within the  “Ten Commandments.”

But, what does “Waiting” have to do with the Ten Commandments or other Spiritual laws of God?  Everything. When we push on in our lives without “Waiting” for the Lord to guide us, we leave ourselves wide open to serious and severe consequences; like running a traffic signal.

Suppose someone is being “tempted” to do something that they know is wrong, but they feel as if they cannot hold back from the temptation…The Bible has the answer. It can be found in I Corinthians 10:13, “NO temptation has seized you except what is COMMON to man.  And God is Faithful; He will NOT let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.  But, when you are tempted, He will also provide a way of escape so that you can stand up under it.”

There have been a few times within my own life when I have had to enter into my closet-of-prayer and pray this passage of Scripture before God in order to allow Him to remove something from my life that would bring about negative consequences.  After I prayed, I had to WAIT upon God to move upon the situation and to either change me or change the situation.  But, I had to “WAIT” upon God to work in the matter…Not always easy…but so well-worth the WAIT!!

Today, you may be facing a problem, dilemma, temptation, or decision.  God’s Word teaches us to “WAIT” before the Lord before we take action.  Let God choose for you; then trust Him with the results.

How do we know when we are truly “waiting” upon God?  PEACE….We have a peace within our hearts and mind that surpasses all understanding and anything that we could ever conjure up on our own.

“Wait upon the Lord, be of good courage, and He will direct thy path.”  Amen!

Remember, God Loves You!
