For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Wise Men always seek a Wise and Wonderful Counselor…
Have you ever wished for “someone” to talk with? Someone who will comfort you, support you, befriend you, and give you the sound, honest, and solid advise that you need? I know I have.
Many times, those to whom we turn, perhaps a family member, friend, co-worker, peer, or neighbor for needed support, comfort, and sound advise are simply too busy dealing with their own woes and cares in this life to be there for us as we would wish and hope, or they simply don’t possess the knowledge and wisdom to correctly provide us with the answers to our needs, concerns, and cares.
Don’t despair; we have all been there. But, there is hope. God told Isaiah over three thousand years ago that a child would be born “unto us” whose name would be called, “Wonderful Counselor.” Did you see that? Not just a counselor…but a Wonderful Counselor!
I have a friend who is a Christian counselor. He has even advised me on several occasions; each time providing guidance and direction with a sound foundation in the Word of God. Yet; even with all of his professional trainings and medical degrees…he cannot offer comfort, support, or wisdom like Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor.
With Jesus as our Wonderful Counselor, we never miss an appointment time. Actually, we don’t even have to make an appointment in advance. Jesus is always opened; always available. He is never “overbooked,” or “out-of-town.” He is as near as the prayer on our lips or the thoughts and pondering of our hearts. Oh, what a Wonderful Counselor!
Today, it is my prayer that you, too, know Jesus Christ as your personal Wonderful Counselor.
How does He advise me? Foremost, by meeting with me in His Word…The Bible. He has provided me with sixty-six wonderful books to instruct, encourage, guide, and support my life while here on Earth. I can also meet with Him in my circumstances according to Romans 8:28, “For we know that ALL things work together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose.” And, I can meet with him in personal prayer and supplication (taking my needs and burdens to Him in prayer). The ways to meet with Jesus, the Wonderful Counselor, are endless…once we have met Him at the Cross of Calvary!
Oh, What a Savior is Mine….Oh, What a Mighty God is mine…Oh, What a Wonderful Counselor is mine…
This Christmas….And everyday….Is He your’s? (John 3:16).
Remember, God Loves You.
