I Know the Plans…Happy New Year 2012

I Know the Plans….
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”   Jeremiah 29:11
At this moment, on the eastern coast of the Unites States of America, New Year’s Day is three hours away…At 12:00 AM, we will joyously ring in a New Year and all that it holds.  Yet; I am most thankful that my LORD already knows what the New Year will bring…He has a plan!
And, it is a joyous plan… A plan to give me “hope” and a “future.”  I can rest assured this evening in this Promise as well as,  “My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in Glory!  (Philippians 4:19). Amen.

My God has a plan, and His plan does not require twicking, revamping, or rewriting.  He is the eternal, everlasting author and finisher of my faith and He will carry out His plans on my behalf.  This I can be assured of.

So, tonight…Let those of us who know Christ Jesus as our Personal Savior rest in His promises to take care of our past, present, and future!!  For we know that ALL things work together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose (and plan!). (Romans 8:28).  Amen.

Happy New Year, 2012.  May we all be blessed with good health, heavenly wisdom, and faith-filled prosperity…

Remember, God Loves You!

Today, December 30, 2011, is the one year anniversary of the release of my first Christian-based romance novel, “Break Away” through WestBowPress.

I can hardly believe that a full year has passed since the first time I saw my book in print and published. What an exciting moment in time.  As many of you already know, I had worked on the plot of the story for nearly three decades before getting up the courage to finalize the manuscript and submit it for publishing.  Not exactly an overnight project!

But, one year later, I am now in the midst of writing the story’s sequel. On yesterday, I picked up my copy of “Break Away” and begin to read through the chapters. I actually found myself getting involved and engaged in the reading!  Oh, how I love the chapter where Mitchell Avery finds himself alone and struggling with his faith in God and plans for his future.  Sadly, the fictional character chooses to give into fleshly desires sending his life and the lives of so many into a tailspin that spans over the next three decades!

Yet, the fictional story shows and demonstrates a loving, caring, and forgiving God who divinely orchestrates the lives of the characters in a way that can only be truly from God!  I am using this same type of reference and reverence unto God in the sequel (not yet titled!).

If you have not already purchased a copy for yourself, I invite you to do so; especially if you like Christian fiction, romance….I know I do…

Have a blessed day.

Love Above All

Love Above All…It’s not always easy to “love.”  Sure, we can love things when they are delightful…Who doesn’t love babies, cute puppies, cotton candy, or a ride on the ferris wheel on a warm star-lit night??  But, babies can cry, puppies can boop all over the place, cotton candy can rotten your teeth, and too many rounds on a ferris wheel can turn your stomach upside-down!  So, even the more delightful things in life can become somewhat of a challenge at times.

In our human minds, it’s hard to fully comprehend how a Holy God can love imperfect mankind so much that He demonstrated his love towards us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NIV).

In all of my three decades-plus of service to God as a Pastor’s wife, I believe the hardest thing I faced was people not loving one another; not caring as they should; not accepting one another in the Lord, and not committed to God’s cause and command to love.  If a person should find “love” anywhere being rightfully exhibited it should be in the House of God.  But, unfortunately, that’s not always the case.

I’m not talking about acts of kindness or love shown during times of sickness or loss.  Even the lost and dying world knows how to step-up-to-the-plate and show compassion during sad and desperate times.  Sadly, the “church” doesn’t hold the only ticket in the house for showing kindness and compassion!  I have actually had people whom I worked with (that never stepped into a church!) to show me more kindness than some of the members where I attended church! (Sad!!).

The Apostle John “preached” and “taught” the need to demonstrate LOVE one for another. I believe knowing “how” to show LOVE starts in the home.  It’s important how a husband shows his love and protection for his wife; especially in front of their children.  It’s important how a wife shows respect and love for her husband; especially in front of her children.  It’s important for siblings to be “taught” how to love and respect one another and each other’s belongings.  Love can be taught; but it must be taught early in life.

But, even with all the “teachings” and “examples” of Love within the human spirit…there is a LOVE that goes much deeper and can only be exercised through the POWER of the Holy Spirit…It’s when we LOVE the UNLOVABLE; as God so loved the world…This type of LOVE comes only from above.  We can’t work it up; cough it up; or wish it up….This type of LOVE comes through PRAYER (sometimes through fastings and prayer), submission, and committment.

As with most of us, I have had problems dealing in this level of Love myself…After all, it’s hard to love someone who makes it their goal in life to destroy you (especially when it is a close or distant friend or family member!).  During such times, your heart grieves with pain and hurt.  It is during these times when one has to “dig deeper” to find God’s Love and Grace in the matter.  I know…I’ve been there; done that; bought a t-shirt and wore it home way too many times!!

Our true enemy, God’s enemy, Satan, wants nothing more than to destroy us, and to tear us down, and to cause us to doubt God’s love for us.  That’s why it is SO important for us to submit ourselves to a “closet of prayer” in such circumstances and situations and plead for the Power of God’s love to be upon us in such matters.  It’s ONLY through the Power of God’s love that we can overcome…We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.

Dear Friend, you may be facing a situation right now in your life that is grievous to your heart and soul. Perhaps, someone has disappointed you or tried desperately to hurt your reputation among others.  Believe me when I say I could jot down a LONG list of people who have seemingly gone out of their way to “bully” me and my husband during our years in the ministry….But, I have learned the only way to overcome and move forward is by entering my “prayer closet” and pleading to God to allow me to LOVE them through God’s Power; not my own.  After all, we are only human within our own strength…It’s God’s Love that is a LOVE ABOVE ALL!

Remember God LOVES You!

A Week to Ponder Ahead…2012

A Week to Ponder Ahead… 2012…Today, is December 26, 2011.  Five days remain in the year 2011.

For me, the very minute Christmas Day is past, I begin to look forward with great anticipation towards the New Year.  What does it hold in store for my family, friends, and me; personally?  Oh, how we all look forward to a New Year of great fortune, bliss, and Heavenly blessings flowing non-stop from the Throne of God!  Amen.  This is my prayer for all of us…

Of course, amongst our many Heavenly blessings, we can be assured of a few hills and valleys along the way.  That’s LIFE…Yet; it is always our heart’s desires to be filled with joyous merriment and glorious glee.

The beginning of the year is also a good time to reflect over past blessings and to look forward with renewed zeal and determination to “change” and “drop” all of the old and bad habits we have developed!  Oh, the lists of New Year Resolutions! I don’t think there’s another month in the year where new diets and exercise programs are started more than January…going to the gym…walking a mile a day…stair-master climbing…counting calories…Oh, the joys of diet and exercise!!  I hope I will stick to mine this new year!

Then, there’s the start of reading through the Bible for another new year.  But, for me, instead of simply reading through the Bible this year, I wish to slow-down and dig deeper into the Scriptures one-by-one.  I’m not going to be as interested in “how far” I read this year, but how much I study and learn (Study to show thyself approved; a workman unto God).  Then, I want to “apply” all that I learn.  I want others to see Christ’s Spirit dwelling within me.  And, when a person sets out to make this a goal…you can be assured that the enemy will come knocking at his or her door!!  Lord, have mercy!

For others to see Christ’s Spirit thriving within us is not always an easy goal to meet.  What do I mean?  Well, others may see many of us going to church; and that is well and good.  The Bible clearly teaches us “Not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together…(Hebrews 10:25). Others may see us reframing from certain activities and life-styles in Honor of God’s Word…That’s all well and good; too. (Ephesians and Romans..the entire books!)

But, do others see the Love of God as taught in I, II, and III John richly dwelling within our hearts and manifested within our lives for His honor and glory?  Does the Love of Jesus reign within us…like it should?

I’m afraid I fall very short in this area at times…Take the long lines at the stores this past Christmas shopping season or the high volumes of traffic….and it doesn’t take very long for me to be reminded just how “human” I am!  Or, when I think a certain situation should go a certain way (my way!) and it doesn’t.  Or, people simply don’t behave and/or respond in the way I feel they should.  When these things happen, I quickly have to tend with my flesh!  But, the Bible teaches us to “Give thanks in ALL things…”  Whether the “ALL” things work out the way I want them to work out or not!  After all, it’s God’s world; he made it…and all that belongs in it is His (Genesis 1).

Today, you may feel like me and wish to Give Thanks to our Heavenly Father for all of His rich blessings upon our lives.  Also, like me, you may be wanting to work on those “love skills” taught in the books of I, II, and III John.

It is my prayer that we all do better this year; 2012.  After all…isn’t life worth it?  Aren’t our friends and family worth it?  Isn’t our Lord worth it?  Oh, yes my friend…they are…And, HE IS!!!

Now, is the time to humble ourselves and seek ye Lord!

Merry Christmas to One and All!   Yes, I am still pleasantly one of those “Christians” who still believes in saying, “Merry Christmas,” especially since the birth of Jesus Christ is exactly what Christmas is all about!

At this time, I want to wish all of you who have “clicked” by my blog site this year a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Especially to my fellow “bloggers.”  I have so enjoyed reading so many of your blogs.  Thank you for your dedication and for supporting my site.

You will never know how much it means to me that so many of you have “clicked” on…What a blessing.  I pray that in one way or the other all of my blogs have  been a source of encouragement and inspiration to you.

Blogging is something that I started this past year after retiring from teaching public school after having a brain aneurysm and a vertebral artery dissection that resulted in a mild stroke.  I am so blessed that I can still function with only mild cognitive impairments, but God has blessed me to still be able to write…And, so I do…as often as I can.  And, I want each blog to somehow always up-lift  the name of my Lord and Savior.

I hope this is a wonderful season to each and all.  May God Bless you is my prayer.  Peace on Earth to you all.

Beautiful Star of Bethlehem…Shine On

Beautiful Star of Bethlehem…Shine On…Oh, the precious joys of Christmas both past and present.  Who among us cannot recall a special memory or two associated with Christmas morn?  Some memories may be pleasant, playful, and fond.  However, some memories can be sad.

Even though we, as Christians, choose December 25th each year to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, it is still a physical twenty-four hour day on planet Earth that can bring forth both good or sad tithings.  For those who have experienced sadness during the Christmas season, my heart goes out to you. For I am almost certain that such past experiences can overshadow the present and future joys of Christmas for you.

Yet; let us always remember that somewhere over Bethlehem of Judea, over two-thousand years ago, a guiding star once burned brightly leading the wise men to the place where Jesus lay.  Oh, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem I ask that you forever shine upon the hearts of men, women, boys, and girls all over the world leading us all to the place where Jesus is ever-present within our hearts and lives; whatever our circumstances.

No matter if it is December 25th or June 25th…we can always experience the Beautiful Star of Bethlehem shining brightly within our hearts leading us in the path of righteousness for His (Jesus Christ) name’s sake.

And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”  (Act 4:12 KJV)

Jesus, Jesus…there’s just something about that name.

Perhaps, you have experienced sadness during the Christmas season. It could happen to any of us (Yet, I pray not… for both you and for me). But, sadness can be present any day of the year just as gladness and celebration.  This year, let us not allow the sadnesses of the past to overshadow the present joys found in Jesus Christ.  For, if our painful, sad experience had occurred on any other date such as July 4th or February 14th…it would make it none the less or none the greater.  We all experience times of darkness and sadness within our hearts and lives.  Yet; the Beautiful Star of Bethlehem can shine on within our hearts each day of the year.

No matter the time, day, or year….Jesus is ever present…shining within our hearts showing us to a place where Faith abides and Grace and Mercy resides.  Oh, this morning I am forever thankful for the Star that guided the wise men to the place where Jesus lay.

Today, tomorrow, and all future Christmas days…let our hearts and memories be filled with the Beautiful Star of Bethlehem…for in Jesus, no other name given, we all find total peace, joy, salvation, and rest for our weary souls.

If You Are a Mule

If You Are a Mule….I once heard or read somewhere that if a person calls you a “mule” it doesn’t necessarily mean that you are a mule.  If two people call you a “mule,” you are still not a mule.  But, if three or more people call you a mule…go ahead a hitch up the reins and saddle up….you must be a mule!!

What people think about or perceive of us can be hurtful at times to our lives…especially when we are misunderstood and thought to be something negative or someone negative.  Ouch! It just plain out hurts!

I suppose we can “all” sound like a broken record at times repeating and repeating those things that we feel would make us happy…Yet those things never seem to happen within our lives.  We can at times reach a point of just wishing to give up on life…When this occurs, it might be time to take inventory to see what really does and does not matter in life.

I think it is somewhat of a curse when you wish for people to like and accept you as you are….and, they don’t!  I guess the only way to be accepted as you are is if you are perfect or near perfect!  Well, that certainly leaves me out!  Yet; it seems to work well for others…being accepted for simply who they are…nothing added to it…unconditional love…

It amazes me how some people can be fully accepted and valued for just being themselves while others, like myself, seem to work endlessly and tirelessly to “make” it happen!  I’m sure some of you know exactly what I am talking about.  Sadly, you may even feel the same way.

Sometimes, adult life can be a whole lot like high school life even after your own grandchildren have graduated high school!  What I mean by that is back in the good old high school days there were certain people or classmates who could just walk down the hallway not ever speaking to another soul as they confidently strolled from class to class…Yet, they would be voted on the homecoming court each year because of their favorable looks and appearances!   It didn’t matter if they possessed or didn’t possess a good personality…just loved because of their looks!!  You can say that physical looks aren’t everything…but they sure provide some people with a few added perks in this life!  Yet, those students who went out of their way to be friendly and speak to everyone….Well, let’s just say they never made the team!

Continuing with the high school theme…It wasn’t all about performance or grades either.  I know people who nearly failed every subject in high school or at best maintained a “C” average… yet they live the comfort of a millionaire’s lifestyle today….while the rest of us who worked hard to keep up our GPA’s only manage to make a decent week-to-week living.  Vanity…all is vanity.

All of this makes me think about King Solomon of Israel who wrote in the Book of Ecclesiastes, “All is vanity…All is vanity.”  Actually, the NIV reads, “Meaningless! Meaningless! Utterly Meaningless!”  Wow! Those are some strong words coming out of the King’s mouth!  But, don’t we all feel that same way at times??  I know I do.  The rat-race of life…trying to please people who will NEVER be pleased with anything we ever say or do…waking up each day to making up the same old beds, correctly hanging the towels, replacing the tissue roll when needed, cleaning out the same old dishwasher, washing, drying, and folding of clothes, mowing the same old grass during the summer or raking the leaves in the fall…washing and styling your hair only to have to re-wash and style it the next day…All is vanity.

I love that King Solomon wrote in the Bible, “So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me…all of it meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 2:17).  Don’t you just love that a rich, powerful King found life to be dull and meaningless at times!  I sometimes wonder if people who become so seriously depressed with depression that they wish to take their own lives would read the entire book of Ecclesiastes several times over that it would make a difference in their own thoughts and perspectives.  Even the most powerful and richest man on earth complained that life had become dull and meaningless to him, even with all the resources of the world at his fingertips.  So, why should we be any different?  Doesn’t the toils of life just simply get dull and frustrating to all of us at times? Don’t people everywhere misunderstand the actions of others at times??

Yet; how did King Solomon solve and resolve his disappointments with life and all that it has to offer?  ( Especially, since he stated that he set out to withhold  from himself nothing on earth that he desired!)  Well, in actuality he concluded with these words, “Here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NIV).

Did you see that?  Did you read that?  “EVERYTHING will be judged whether it be good or evil! Who will judge it?  God…not mankind.”  Yippee!!! The one and only just, all-knowing Judge who will bring justice to the injustices of life…I don’t know about you but that makes me sigh a breath of relief!  There is a pay-day at the end of the road…and it will be a just and a fair pay-day not based upon other men’s opinions and thoughts…but based upon God’s truth and all-knowing of the heart.

Today, you may be facing a bunch of people who are calling you a “mule,” yet you know within your heart that you are not a mule…Take comfort that the God of Heaven will one day defend you for all eternity.  And, all the vain things that we have to do and redo each day will be passed away…Yes, Virginia…There is a HOPE…and HIs name is Christ Jesus, God’s own Son. Rest today in His blessed assurances…the only assurances that we can truly rely on.  “The Joy of the Lord is MY strength!”  Amen.

I so enjoy when I find comfort in the blessed Words of God, the Bible.  Sometimes when the routines of life and the challenges presented start to weigh me down, I love to pick up King Solomon’s words and know that one day…all the meaningless things of life will be passed away and all will be at rest.  Fear God and Keep His commandments.  Amen.

Remember, God Loves You!
