Four Days Later! Have you ever had a “four-days-later” experience in your life? I know I have. You’ve prayed and you’ve prayed but still you’ve heard no answer; your faith grows weak; you feel all alone. Then, when Jesus does finally shows up you say, “Lord, IF you had….”
Our Lord doesn’t rely on “IF’s” in our lives to carry out His will. He’s NOT an “IF” God…He is a “When” God…Mary and Martha of Bethany discovered that particular Biblical truth as they mourned the loss of their brother, Lazarus (John 11: 1-44).
Scriptures tell us that Jesus and his disciples were about a day’s journey from Bethany when they received a message that one of Jesus’ friends, whom he loved, was sick and at the point of death. The messenger bid Jesus to come to Bethany right away to heal the man. As some might say, Jesus tarried. Actually, he tarried until Lazarus had died and was in the grave for four days before he made the journey to Bethany.
When Jesus finally did arrive in Bethany, he met up with the party of mourners that included Lazarus’ two sisters, Mary and Martha. Can’t you see it now!? Here comes Jesus walking down the road…Jesus, the Giver of Life! Even though Mary remained in the house along with the mourners, Martha rushed to meet him with her famous words, “Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died!” (John 11:21 KJV).
Let me ask you a question. Like Mary, how many of us have remained in the house of mourners with little or no hope? Yet, Martha rushed out of the house to meet Jesus! Oh, how I hope and pray that I am always a Martha who rushes to meet Jesus!
But, Jesus had a plan…He always has a Plan!! Now that Lazarus had been dead for four days, it provided Jesus with the wonderful opportunity to demonstrate that He is the Resurrection of Life!
Today, are their prayer requests that you are still waiting to hear from Jesus? Does he delay? If so, He is only setting up the opportunity to demonstrate and prove that He is the Resurrection of Life! Oh, the joy of “Four Days Later” experiences! These are experiences when you know for certain that Jesus made it to “your” personal Bethany and He is in the House!
Just Hold on my child…for He’s not too far away…and he knows your needs before you pray…Look ahead…Here Comes Jesus…Right on Time!! (McKameys- Right on Time) Our Lord is Never Late…Just Right on Time…His Time!
Don’t Lose Faith….This could be your “Four Days Later” experience!
Remember God Loves You.
